As the excitement begins to build for the Charity Walking Rugby Festival on Saturday 20th June at Hinckley Rugby Football Club, it's time to introduce a team who know exactly how to handle pressure, crowds, and the occasional difficult customer – The Bar Staff.

Normally found keeping the clubhouse running smoothly and ensuring nobody goes thirsty, this group of local legends are swapping bar towels for rugby shirts and stepping onto the pitch. For years they've been serving the thirsty male population of Hinckley, and now they're ready to turn their attention to serving up a few surprises on the rugby field too.

Despite having little regard for conventional rugby preparation, this squad arrives full of confidence and team spirit. Tactical meetings have reportedly taken place during windy walks around the Common, where game plans have been discussed, refined and, in some cases, completely forgotten. Fuelled on mates-rates cocktails and Dom's infamous pasta, they've left no stone unturned in their quest for walking rugby glory. Built on years of friendship, banter and shared shifts behind the bar, they'll be backing each other every step of the way and hoping teamwork counts for just as much as talent.

This year, they're not just relying on their tried-and-tested blend of charm and chaos. The squad has been bolstered by fresh blood and a few carefully recruited ringers, adding even more firepower to an already formidable outfit.

And while rumours persist of romantic weekends away in sheep huts and questionable adventures in the back of the Bounty, these girls have been putting in the hard yards. Training sessions have become a regular fixture as they focus their efforts on this event, determined to prove there's far more to them than pulling pints and telling stories.

Will they lift the trophy? Who knows. Will they be the loudest team there? Almost certainly. One thing is guaranteed – The Bar Staff will bring energy, entertainment and just enough unpredictability to keep everyone on their toes.

NEW APPOINTMENT - Adam Bott U23s Head Coach
Newly appointed as Head Coach of Hinckley U23s, Adam (Botty) has re-signed for another coaching year at Hinckley RFC. We think this will be a great appointment and help cement the transition of our Colts graduates into our senior structures. Adam has been involved on and off for many years and still plays the occasional game. It will be his first time in charge of a senior team but we think this has been long overdue. He will be ably assisted by Dave Massarella who continues as Assistant Coach of the U23s.

Good luck Botty and Dave for the coming season.

Major Announcement - Rupert Harden Scrum Coach

Hinckley RFC is pleased to announce a fantastic addition to its coaching staff with the introduction of Rupert Harden who is the current Oakham School DOR.

Rupert played prop at a high level with stints at Gloucester, Treviso, England Saxons, Hartpury and Moseley. His coaching background has been honed within the private school settings of Denstone and Oakham as well as with Cambridge RFC and Staffordshire RFU.

Rupert will act across all senior & pathway teams bringing a high level of technical expertise and expectation.

We wish Rupert well in his new role and his involvement with Hinckley RFC.

The countdown is on to our Walking Rugby Festival, taking place on Saturday 20th June, and we're looking forward to welcoming players, supporters and the local community for another fantastic day of rugby and fundraising in aid of the Air Ambulance.

The festival will feature two competitions running throughout the day:

• A Walking Rugby Tournament for local rugby clubs.
• A Social Tournament for teams looking to enjoy a fun and less competitive day with friends, colleagues or teammates.

Last year's festival was a brilliant success, with Vipers RFC lifting the Walking Rugby title and Empire Fitness claiming victory in the Social Tournament. We're pleased to confirm that both teams will be returning this year to defend their crowns.

We're also looking forward to revealing the teams entered into this year's Social Tournament over the next few days, so keep an eye on our social media channels to see who will be battling it out for the trophy.

There are still a limited number of spaces available in both competitions, so if you're thinking about entering a team, there's still time to get involved.

Even if you're not taking part, we'd love to see you at the club supporting the event. Food and drink will be available throughout the day, there will be live entertainment, and plenty of rugby on show, all while raising money for a fantastic cause.

For more information or to enter a team, please email:

Join us on Saturday 20th June for what promises to be another great day at Hinckley RFC while helping raise vital funds for the Air Ambulance.

RIP John Swift
It is with great sadness that HRFC announce the passing of John Swift, ex-player, Chairman and President.

Condolences go to John’s family and friends for what is probably an expected but sad loss.

John led the club during some of its most turbulent times in 1980s & 90s as it battled to come to terms with league rugby.

Controversial at times, with strong opinions, John always had the club’s best interests at heart. And it was therefore a joy to see his pleasure as the club finally came to terms with league rugby, especially in the last 10 years and after we had awarded him his gold membership so he could park wherever he wanted!

RIP John Swift, one of the great characters at Hinckley RFC who would always generate an opinion but who’s commitment to the club could never to questioned.

Funeral details will be published in the near future.

Many thanks

Hinckley RFC

Always the best team in the club, Salt said, "These were the toughest negotiators! They took it to the edge and I thought we had lost them but we got there in the end!"😂😂

Another great signing from Alex Salt.
