The club are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of one of our founder members, Alan Bancroft. Richmond Rovers is one big family and we offer our condolences to Alan’s family at this time. We hope they are really proud of the role he played in creating our great club back in 1983. Without him and our other founders, thousands of children would not have represented our club. Indeed his son David played in the early days and his grandson Hudson came over from America and made his Richmond debut as a guest in our Anglo Dutch Cup in 2024. Alan leaves behind a proud legacy and will always be remembered fondly.

U7 Roma
Result: Loss

What a battle of a game! There was very little between the two teams in terms of ability and quality. Our opponents were a very physical side, and the game was fiercely contested throughout.

We went 1-0 up but quickly conceded. 2-2 at the end of the first third. 4-4 at the end of the second third. We were drawing for most of the final third, but through a couple of basic errors they managed to gain a slight advantage and edge ahead.

All of our goalkeepers put in solid performances today – Eddie, Ralph and Jack A all did well between the sticks.

Oscar played a great first third in defence getting the ball up to the strikers and scored a super hat-trick.

Ralph scored two superb goals of his own and brought his high energy to the game and made several good tackles.

Theo scored a great goal and battled hard to win possession showing off his skills and getting the ball forward.

Jack A put in a good shift up front, getting stuck in and working tirelessly for the team making several goal attempts.

Eddie had a good game on the wing, putting in some excellent tackles and contributing well throughout.

Jack R also played well on the wing, making several goal attempts and putting in some great tackles and contributing well to the team.

A huge effort from everyone involved – plenty to be proud of today!

Match Report: U7 Roma

Tythyfives Tournament

We had a fantastic start to the tournament, dominating our opening game. Theo (4) and Ralph (3) scored some excellent goals, alongside a great finish from Jasper (1).

In the second game, we continued our strong form with goals from Theo and Jack, plus two superb strikes from Oscar.

The third game saw a goal from Oscar then we conceded our first goal but managed the draw.

In the fourth match, Jack and Ralph both found the net with some great goals, while in the fifth game Jack scored two confident goals, supported by goals from Benji and Ralph.

Across five games, we conceded just one goal, which reflects the outstanding effort, teamwork, and determination shown by every player throughout the tournament. We finished top of the league in the group stages.

Unfortunately, our journey ended in the semi-final. Theo faced a tough challenge in goal during two unfortunate/questionable penalties, producing a brilliant save for the first penalty. Despite his efforts, the second penalty found the net, bringing our tournament run to an end.

Every player should be incredibly proud of their performance. The football played throughout the tournament was excellent, and the team represented themselves brilliantly from start to finish. ⚽👏 its really difficult to pick a motm today as they were all equally fantastic

Richmond Rovers all-stars U10s

The all-star U10s opened their Summer League campaign in spectacular fashion with a commanding victory over tough opposition, defined by an exceptional all-round team performance.

From the first whistle, Rovers dictated the tempo with a style of play built on intricate, interconnecting passing through the midfield and sharp wing play. The attacking line set the tone with relentless running off the ball, maintaining a constant goal threat that pinned the opposition back throughout the entire game. This non-stop pressure was clinical, featuring a superb Noah hat-trick, a brace from Jude, and well-taken goals from Leo, Zachary, and Harry.

While the frontline kept the pressure on, the victory was anchored by a rock-solid performance from Will in goal, who stayed sharp and pulled off crucial saves whenever called upon to cap off a brilliant team display.

Richmond Rovers Roma u12s
Result: Win

Roma played well this morning and showed good character to come from behind and take the lead before conceding a late equaliser before a final late 3 goal frenzy killed the game off.

We entered the break 1 down although were well in the game with the opposition goalie making some good saves to keep us at bay.

Roma started the second half well on top and Reggie Pearson equalised following a good ball from keeper Davies into his feet, drifting past his marker and cutting inside to finish well.

Pearson added a second shortly after following good work between Travis and King.

Roma had several chances to extend the lead but their keeper was in inspired form.

They then equalised with only 3 minutes left on the clock. Roma responded well though with Denning restoring the lead with a left foot sharp finish before Tomkinson scored two fast breakaway goals following feeds from Pearson.

Some nice football played with Travis providing another dimension playing out more effectively from the back.
