Match Report: HGCC Ladies vs Newton Ladies, 07/09/26

Sunday night saw the ladies begin their indoor campaign with an incident filled match against Newton...We won the toss and fielded.

It was a very decent performance with the ball right from the start, with Lily hitting middle stump and bowling pace and accuracy. Deyna also bowled well, displaying great maturity, mental strength and composure to take a catch off her own bowling at the end of the innings after an accidental high no ball hit one of the Newton ladies (we have since been told she is fine!). There were other balls mm's to hitting the stumps and the rest of the wickets were run outs taken from the rest of the team, with Lindsay particularly busy behind the stumps! 🔥
Newton finished on 264-7

Onto the batting, taking our usual approach, we looked to keep it sensible and keep the scoreboard ticking. Zoe & Deyna opened, both displaying well placed shots, with Zoe executing her trademark sweeps! 🧹 Our ‘loanees’ Laura W & Holly continued in the same vein getting us very close to the winning total. The remaining pairs of Lauren & Lindsay (ramping it right up) and Laura & Lily completed a comfortable victory scoring 309 with the loss of only 2 wickets 💪👏

Thanks to Laura W & Holly for giving us a hand, Coors for umpiring and finally to Liv and Ste for scoring🙏 A few weeks off for us now before our next outing. Off to a great start, let’s keep that going!

💫 Well done to our player of the match Lily. Great in the field, bossed her batting with Laura and removed that middle stump with her bowling 🔥YES LIL!
