What a weekend. What a community. What a tournament.

Across two fantastic days of football, Hawkinge Town FC welcomed:

πŸƒ 975 young players
⚽️ Close to 300 games played
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ 1,500+ parents, grandparents, friends and family members
πŸš— Around 1000 vehicles through our site
🌭 1,000+ hot food items served, including burgers, bacon rolls and sausages
πŸ† Trophies, memories and smiles created

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

Behind every kick off, every goal, every trophy presentation and every smile is an incredible amount of work. While the tournament takes place over a single weekend, it is the result of more than six months of planning and preparation by a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, committee members and everyone who gave up their time to make the weekend possible.

What many people do not see is that the vast majority of those helping are not event organisers by trade. On Monday morning they return to their normal jobs across a huge range of professions. Yet for one weekend they become caterers, groundskeepers, traffic marshals, event managers, maintenance teams, tournament organisers and problem solvers, all united by a desire to give local children a weekend to remember.

They give up evenings, weekends and countless hours behind the scenes to create an experience for nearly 1,000 young footballers and their families. Many of the people who make events like this happen are never in the photographs, but without them there simply would not be a tournament.

Most importantly, thank you to every player who stepped onto the pitch. Grassroots football is about enjoyment, development, friendship and creating lifelong memories, and this weekend showcased exactly what makes community football so special.

We were delighted to welcome teams and families from across Kent to Hawkinge. We are incredibly proud to showcase our facilities, our volunteers, our club and our town to so many visitors from across the county. We hope everyone enjoyed their visit and left with a positive impression of both Hawkinge Town FC and our town.

From the first whistle on Saturday morning to the final trophy presentation on Sunday evening, Hawkinge was buzzing with football, laughter, friendship and community spirit.

To everyone who attended, supported, volunteered, sponsored, officiated, coached or simply cheered from the touchline, thank you.

CLUB STATEMENT – GROUNDSHARE AGREEMENT WITH DRFC

Hawkinge Town Football Club is pleased to confirm that we will be hosting Dover Rangers FC for the 2026/27 season, as part of a new groundshare arrangement at our home.

This agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the local football community. Dover Rangers are a great group of people with clear ambition, and we are proud to play a part in supporting their next step.

At Hawkinge Town, we have worked hard to develop a great facility that we’re proud of. This groundshare provides an excellent opportunity to showcase what we have built to a wider audience, while also strengthening relationships within the local game.

In addition, the arrangement creates a valuable additional revenue stream for the club, helping us continue to invest in our infrastructure, youth teams, and long-term sustainability. DRFC play Saturday afternoons, so willοΏΌ utilise the space which otherwise would be empty.

We look forward to welcoming Dover Rangers, their players, officials, and supporters to Hawkinge, and we wish them every success for the season ahead!

CLUB STATEMENT - PROMOTION / MANAGEMENT TEAM UPDATE

Following an excellent result at the weekend, Hawkinge Town Football Club was crowned Kent County League Champions for the 2025/2026 season, marking the first time in our history that the club has achieved this honour. Thank you to everyone for their kind messages, we have been overwhelmed.

This is a huge achievement for everyone involved with the club, and we would like to place on record our congratulations to Andy, Marc and Josh. This success is built on the commitment, hard work and togetherness shown across the entire campaign, including those who have contributed along the way.

Whilst we celebrate this historic moment, we must also express our disappointment that, despite having secured a groundshare agreement months ago at a compliant ground for the 26/27 season, at a time when promotion was far from guaranteed, the club has not been granted promotion to the SCEFL due to FA criteria requirements around groundshares.

It is clear that the current system presents challenges not just for ourselves, but for many clubs across the non league pyramid. To win a league title and not be in a position to progress highlights an issue that we feel needs to be addressed moving forward.

The club can also confirm that the First Team management group will be departing to take up a new opportunity at an SCEFL side. Despite our best efforts to convince the trio to stay, which included moving to the groundshare next season to challenge for promotion at a state of the art stadium, it was unfortunately not enough.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Andrew, Marc and Joshua for everything they have given to the team. It has been a pleasure working with them, and they leave not only with our full respect, but as friends of the club.

We fully support them in their next move and understand that football moves quickly, and opportunities such as this have to be taken when they arise. We hope to see them continue their great work elsewhere.

Applications for the First Team management position are now open. To declare an interest, please email [email protected] so we can arrange an informal discussion.

The club still fully intends to fight for Step 6 football next season, so the vision remains to compete at the groundshare with the aim of promotion next season. This will, however, be subject to agreement with the new management team.

Finally, we would like to thank our supporters, volunteers, sponsors and everyone connected with Hawkinge Town FC for their incredible backing throughout the season. Your support means everything to us.

πŸ¦… We will regroup, rebuild, and go again next season! πŸ¦…
