Parent & toddler Dance including 'Petite Ballet' 'Toddler Tap', musical instruments, and props. From 16 months to school age. Great fun packed class.

"First Steps" is a great introduction to movement music and dance for the under 3's. Children explore movement and music, play musical instruments and begin to learn the basics of dance. Sessions are creative and fun! even the adults can get involved. We introduce a little ballet and tap. Many of the Dancers at my dance school on a Saturday start of at First Steps. Check out the Lisa Mason School of Dance page or website for more info.

🩰✨ Those first little steps can be more important than you think… First Steps is Lisa Mason’s introduction to dance for our youngest children — but it’s about much more than simply learning a few dance moves.

Through music, movement and lots of fun, children begin to develop coordination, balance, confidence and an awareness of rhythm. They also get used to listening, following simple instructions and being part of a class with other children.

And at this age, that matters.

NHS guidance encourages young children to be active throughout the day, with dancing specifically recognised as a great way for under-5s to get moving.

At LMSD, First Steps is designed to make those early experiences positive ones. There’s no pressure and no expectation of perfect ballet positions — just a friendly, supportive introduction to movement and dance with Lisa.

For some children, it really is the first step on a much longer journey… from those early classes, through Ballet, Tap and Modern, examinations, shows and performances. ❤️
