On Saturday, 15th August, we are hosting a Memorial Family Fun Day and Charity Rugby Match in honour of Roonagh Faith Grimsey O’Halloran, who sadly passed away in November 2025 at just 7 years old.

Roonagh was a fighter who underwent open-heart surgery, chemotherapy and a liver transplant during her short life. Despite these challenges, she had boundless courage, resilience and spirit.

This event will bring together communities from far and wide for a day filled with all the things Roonagh loved – BBQs, music and rugby. The highlight of the event will be a match between Hadleigh RFC and Thomond RFC competing for the ‘Roonagh Cup’. Former players from Thomond RFC, along with supporters, family and friends, will travel to Layham Road to be part of this very special occasion.

We are looking for support to help make the event a success and to raise funds in-aid of EACH so the care Roonagh received is there to support other life-threatened children, young people and their families when needed most. Support can be through either:

● Sponsorship (matchday kit, branded plastic glasses, water bottles, wristbands – all lasting souvenirs of the event);
● Financial donations towards the event’s cost (catering, music, event equipment);
● Raffle prizes (gift cards, vouchers, hampers, items to be auctioned on the day);
● Volunteer a few hours of time to help with transport, marshalling, setting up, photography.

Your support, no matter how small, will make a real difference. There will be:

● Recognition on event signage and social media;
● Association with a heartfelt community cause that celebrates courage, resilience and spirit;
● Most importantly, honouring Roonagh’s life with joy, community and plenty of heart.

If you can support in any way, contact Mike O'Halloran at [email protected] or msg 07503 242838.

🏆🏉 End of season awards 🏉🏆

Well, we have made it to the end! It has been no mean feat trying to keep U12 and U14 girls playing league games whilst keeping a girls only offer for U9/10’s too!! Thanks to all who have been part of the coaching team; Lesley, Gav, Rik, Mike, Frizz and Sarah and to the parents who have driven miles for fixtures and made chilli for home games. Thanks to Rachael for your help with the gumshield cases and the Xmas selfie frame and we wouldn’t have had an U14 kit without the generous support of Dale at Construction.ONE.Thanks also to the girls and coaches at bserufc who suggested joining forces and creating the U14 panthers. The plan worked!

Congratulations to all the girls who have pulled on a Hadleigh shirt this year, but a particular well done to those players who were recognised in the awards:

U12
Players’ player of the season - Georgia
Coaches player of the season - Summer

U14
Players’ player of the season - Sophie
Coaches player of the season - Lizzy

Now put the rugby kit away for a month and we will see you all once “touch” starts in June 🤩

❤️🏉 Barkers Butts Festival 🏉❤️

barkersbuttsrfc put on a superb day of girls rugby and Hadleigh Rugby Club U12’s loved being a part of it.
With 9 teams in our age we played everyone and after 80 minutes of high intensity, 7 a side rugby we finished in 3rd place.
We would like to thank newmarketgirlsrugby and maltonrufc for adding to our numbers and playing with great passion and dedication.

🏉Eastern Counties Finals 2026🏉

Both the Hadleigh U12’s and the U14 panthers set off to Wymondham on Sunday with silverware in their sights.
The U14’s were up first against Cambridge and what a performance the girls put on. After a hard fought 40mins, the panthers finished convincing winners of the cup, 57-7. What a season this cluster have had! Our thanks go to Richard and Mike who have worked alongside the Bury coaches to bring the girls together and develop this team.
Hadleigh Rugby Club U12’s joined forces with Phoenixes to play Anglian Warriors for the shield. It was end to end rugby and with less than a minute to play the teams were tied at 8 tries a piece. Anglian Warriors got possession and squeezed through to score in the final play of the game. The girls were gutted, but their commitment throughout the game was outstanding.
Thankyou wymondhamyouthgirls for putting on a superbly well organised day of rugby, it was amazing to see the pitches filled with girls from all the age groups.
Congrats also go to coach Sarah for receiving the Eastern Counties ‘Spirit of rugby’ award ❤️
