🥋 A huge well done to our Arena Karate students who attended the WTKA Squad Training and Selection Day today! 🥋

Lloyd, Lacie, Esmee, Lily, Aiden, Ben and Oliver all stepped outside their comfort zones and gave 100% throughout the day.

The students were assessed in:
👊 Kata
👊 Kumite
👊 Bleep Test
👊 Sit-ups
👊 Press-ups
👊 50 Reverse Punches in 1 Minute
👊 20 Round Kicks in 30 Seconds

We were especially proud to see every one of our students complete the 50 reverse punches challenge in just 30 seconds!

Selection days can be tough. There are nerves, pressure and a lot of hard work involved, but every one of our students represented Arena Karate with determination, discipline and a fantastic attitude from start to finish.

Now comes the waiting game. We expect to hear the selection results by 21st June, although we have been advised it could take a little longer.

Whatever the outcome, each of these students should be incredibly proud of what they achieved today. Simply putting yourself forward, stepping onto the floor and giving your best takes courage.

Well done, team. You've done yourselves, your families and Arena Karate proud. 👏🥋❤️

🥋🏆 Future Champions Competition #2 🏆🥊

Today, students from Arena Karate and Arena Kick-Boxing - Colchester travelled to Norwich to compete at the second Future Champions Competition of the year, hosted by Black Belt Academy.
Our competitors demonstrated fantastic skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day, competing across Kata, Kumite, Creative Weapons, Slam Man and Light Continuous Kickboxing.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Team Arena brought home an amazing 27 medals:

🥇 10 Gold
🥈 10 Silver
🥉 7 Bronze

While the medals are a fantastic achievement, what makes us most proud is the courage, commitment and attitude shown by every student who stepped onto the competition area and gave their best.

A huge congratulations to all of our competitors and thank you to the Black Belt Academy for hosted and to all who helped make the day such a success.

Well done to everyone who represented Arena Karate and Arena Kickboxing today – you've done yourselves, your clubs and your families proud! 💚

🌟 SEEKING LOCAL BUSINESS SPONSORS 🌟

For over 50 years, Arena Karate has been helping children and adults across Essex and Suffolk build confidence, discipline and lifelong skills through martial arts.

With classes in Hadleigh, Coggeshall and Needham Market, we are proud to support more than 70 students from across the region. From complete beginners to experienced competitors, we provide opportunities for students to develop their skills, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Our students currently compete in around 15-20 competitions each year, developing their skills, gaining valuable experience and proudly representing both their club and local communities.

As our club continues to grow, we are looking to partner with local businesses that would like to support the next generation of athletes and role models.

Huge congratulations to our very own Oliver Wilson on being selected for the English Karate Federation (EKF) Athlete Spotlight following his fantastic performance at the EKF Open Championships! 🥋

Oliver achieved his first ever Kumite gold medal alongside a silver medal at this recognised national competition, and has now been selected as one of only a handful of athletes to be spotlighted from the event.

We couldn’t be prouder of his hard work, dedication and attitude both on and off the tatami. A real credit to Arena Karate - well done Oliver! 👏

🥋🔥 What a Weekend for Arena Karate! 🔥🥋

This last weekend was a busy one for Arena Karate, with students and instructors involved in competitions, seminars and technical training events across the country.

On Saturday, Stefanie Barnes taught at a seminar hosted by Combat Karate & Kickboxing Club in Thetford, sharing knowledge and training with students from across the region. A huge thank you to Combat Karate & Kickboxing Club for their invitation and hospitality throughout the day. Stefanie thoroughly enjoyed the experience and appreciated the opportunity to work with everyone involved.

At the same time, Oliver and Ben travelled to Sheffield to compete at the English Karate Federation Open Karate Championships, a major national competition attracting some of the country’s strongest competitors. Both produced outstanding performances in Kumite:

🥇🥉 Ben - Gold & Bronze

Meanwhile, a small group from Arena Karate, including our very own Stefanie Barnes, Stuart Collier, Jan Strzelec, Lloyd and Maisie, attended the EKKA Kata & Technical Course hosted by Mick Blackwell, continuing to develop their kata and technical understanding through high-level instruction.

Weekends like this perfectly reflect what Arena Karate is all about, competition experience, technical development, continued learning and supporting opportunities across all areas of martial arts training.

A huge well done to everyone involved. We’re incredibly proud of how all students and instructors represented the club throughout the weekend! 💪🥋
