🔴⚫️ Club Update ⚫️🔴

No game for the lads this Bank Holiday weekend with a few too many unavailable — apparently football isn’t everyone’s priority on a Bank Holiday! 😂

So, a rare weekend off before the serious stuff begins…

A massive shoutout to everyone who’s been getting down to training and matches since we returned at the beginning of July. The turnout, effort and commitment have been quality and it’s made pre-season a real success. 👏

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to the sponsors who have supported us over the course of the summer:

👏 🚛 Lift and Shift Transport, who have supplied us with new training tops.

👏 🦷 Riverside Dental Surgery and Implant Clinic, who have provided us with new training T-shirts.

👏🧱 Polesworth Plastering, who are currently in the process of securing us a new alternative kit.

Plenty of running, plenty of football, a few questionable finishes and the odd sore body along the way… but most importantly, we’ve got a great group of lads enjoying their football and putting the work in together. 💪⚽

FULL TIME | GRENDON 3–3

Today’s friendly ended all square after an eventful morning.

The opening stages were evenly contested, but with around 15 minutes on the clock and the score at 0–0, Grendon were forced into an early change when midfielder Kieron Jenkinson had to be withdrawn following a clash of heads.

Neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.

HT | 0–0

Grendon came flying out in the second half and raced into a 3–0 lead, with goals from Popa, Douglas and Jakovlevs putting us firmly in control.

As the game wore on, fitness began to tell and, with a number of injuries forcing further changes, the momentum shifted. Our opponents took advantage and fought their way back into the contest, eventually levelling to make it 3–3.

A frustrating way to surrender a three-goal advantage, but another valuable pre-season workout with plenty of positives to take and minutes in the legs.

Another valuable pre-season test yesterday, and one that showed plenty of character from the lads.

With a christening affecting availability, we went into the game with limited numbers, but those who were available stepped up and put in a great shift.

We found ourselves 1-0 down at half-time, and when that became 2-0 in the second half, we had a real challenge on our hands.

But we kept going, kept believing and showed real character to fight our way back into the game and earn a 2-2 draw. 👊

Plenty of positives to take from the way we responded and refused to give in, especially with the limited numbers available on the day.

That makes it three draws in pre-season as we continue building fitness, sharpness and togetherness ahead of the new campaign.

A great fightback and another important step forward. ⚽🔥

Pre-season continues tomorrow as Grendon FC welcome Stockingford Royal Oak FC to Grendon Rec for another important run-out ahead of the new season.

Another chance to get valuable minutes into the legs, build fitness and continue working towards being ready when the competitive action begins. 💪
