Nene Sunday League
Great ref, friendly & good sportsmanship from the opposition. Good morning of football for KRS
Match Report: Grendon Sapphires 11 – 0 Queensway United
Nene Sunday League
Sunday, 9th November 2025
Today was one of those days where the result doesn’t tell the full story. With a long list of absentees through sickness and injury, we limped into battle with a makeshift squad — a patchwork of committed lads stepping up to ensure the game went ahead. A lot of our core players were unavailable, but those who pulled on the shirt gave everything they had for the team.
From the first whistle, Grendon KRS showed their strength and quality, punishing every mistake and taking full advantage of our stretched squad. Despite the scoreline, every single one of our players kept their heads high, dug deep, and continued to fight for each other right until the final whistle. The management team couldn’t be prouder of the effort, attitude, and togetherness shown today.
At the end of the day, Sunday league football isn’t about the scoreline or the results — it’s about the camaraderie, the laughter, and the shared moments that make all the difference. For us, it’s about building friendships, supporting each other, and using football as a positive force for men’s mental health.
That ends our league games for this year, Next week onwards to the David Ferguson Trophy — stronger, together, and still always smiling.
MOTM today was Sam C for his efforts throughout midfield. Putting in challenges, sliding tackles and a hell of a lot of mileage round the pitch. At times you would have thought there were two of him on the pitch!
Big shout out to KRS. Yet another team full of banter and the right attitude to a Sunday league game. They were a pleasure to play and we wish them luck for the season.
We’d like to also shout out the ref! Credit where it’s due as they do get some bad rap. Probably one of the best refs we’ve had officiating. Firm and fair and managed the game well. Although it’s much easier when you’re playing against teams like these boys where they are respectful and full of banter.
Last but not least. We’d like to take a moment to remember all of the service men, women and animals on remembrance Sunday.
In the going down of the sun; and in the morning - we will remember them.
