A little bit about Georgie:

Hey! I’m Georgie, I lived and trained in Australia and I’ve recently moved back to bring all my skills and knowledge home. I trained with The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute, and I’m all about high vibes, good movement, and even better playlists (think R&B, Soul & House). Expect a strong burn, a proper stretch, and yes… there will ALWAYS be time for feet in straps 😮‍💨 My specialty? Helping you grow a peachy bum and feel strong, confident, and connected in your body.

Yes! Joseph Pilates discovered that by using lateral thoracic breathing, not only was it effective in oxygenating the blood, it also helped to relax muscles and focus the mind. In Pilates, we engage the deep core muscles and so it’s important we breathe into the rib areas.

In class, you’ll hear us say breathe in through nose when you do this, out through the mouth when you do that. Here are a few reasons why:

- It helps to activate your core
- It improves control of movements
- Deepens mind-body connection
- Supports spinal movement
- Prevents unnecessary tension

The way we breathe in Pilates is a process that some people find difficult at first, but with consistent practice, it will improve and enhance your Pilates journey.

- Pilates improves flexibility, it is not a requirement
- No, Pilates isn’t easy. If you find it easy, you aren’t doing it right 😉
