We are East Area Judo Champions and SME Community Business of the Year. 🏆🎖Impressive stuff, deserved by everyone in our judo family.

Every trophy, every title and every award we have ever achieved belongs to the incredible people who make our dojo what it is. And by this, we don’t just mean our members; it is also about the families who support them, and the wider community.

🥋 A NOTE FOR OUR ELY DOJO FAMILY 🥋

At Ely Dojo we are incredibly proud of the environment we have built — a focused, disciplined, and welcoming space where judoka of all ages can learn, grow, and thrive.
To keep it that way, we ask all parents, carers and spectators to support us with a couple of simple but important guidelines when watching from the sidelines:

🤫 Please keep noise and conversation to a minimum inside the dojo — especially during the bowing-in and bowing-out at the start and end of each session. These moments matter. (Prosper Coffee shop downstairs is always open for a catch-up and a chat! ☕)

🙌 Please do not call out to your child or try to give instructions during the class. Our coaches encourage young judoka to think for themselves and make their own decisions on the mat — it is a vital part of their development, and one of the things that makes judo so special.

We know it is not always easy to stay quiet when you are watching your child — we get it!

But these standards are what make Ely Dojo the award-winning club it is. 🏆🎖️

At our dojo, each young leader in our Junior Leadership Academy works through a six-month workbook that tracks their growth, reflections, and progress.

After every class, they record what went well, what they did, where they can improve, and how they felt about supporting the session. Reflection is such a vital part of becoming a great coach…and they are all smashing it! Coaches also leave feedback in the workbook, helping the members reflect even further (and remember what actually happened in class!).

Every session is logged, and if life, injury, or family means they miss a week, no problem—we just keep going until all sessions are completed.

It is a demanding yet flexible program designed to ensure our junior leaders take their roles seriously while developing skills in leadership, coaching, and accountability. We couldn’t be prouder of how they are stepping up!

And they won! Well done to team Camberley, who beat Ryecroft Judo Club (Nottingham) in the semi-final to win over Ealing Judo Club (London) in the final.

➡️ Camberley are officially ‘Ares Premiership Champions’ for the second year in a row! 🙌🏻

There was brilliant judo on display all day from the country’s best judo athletes, along with some really close contests. Ares is showcasing the future of judo in this country; an improved, amended contest ruleset delivers exciting competitive judo, team judo gis branded to each club, music and celebration.

It was an amazing event! 🤩🤩🤩

To all our incredible Ely Dojo members who are stepping into the exam hall over the coming weeks, this one is for you, from every single one of us at the club.

We see the early mornings, the late nights, the revision notes spread across the kitchen table, and the training sessions where you gave everything you had, even when your mind was already full. There is so much we want you to carry into that exam hall: the focus, the discipline, the resilience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. You have already been building those qualities every time you step onto the mat.

At Ely Dojo, we believe with all our hearts that success looks different for every individual. There is no single measure of achievement. What matters most is that you walk into that room with your head held high, give it everything you have, and walk out knowing you tried your hardest.

So take a deep breath. Trust in yourself. And remember your entire judo family is right here, every single one of us, cheering you on with everything we have got. You are champions. Go show them.

Good luck to and the rest of the team from Camberley Judo Club who are competing at the Ares Judo Premiership today at High Wycombe.

Ares Judo presents a new twist on the traditional judo contest format and brings together teams from across the country who battle it out to take the prestigious Ares title as Champions of the Premier Cup! Last year, Camberley came out on top after a fierce final against Bradly Stoke Judo Club.

Ben will be competing for Camberley alongside, Rory Tyrrell, Harry Le Mare, Ashley McKenzie, Joshua Green, Tom Davis, Lanina Solley, Acelya Toprak, Tom Davis, Bearach Gleeson, Cameron Hickey: an awesome team for Ares 2026. Good luck to all the judoka on the Ares contest mats today.

Aran and Joe started Ares judo together to challenge the mould of existing judo and add excitement and prestige to a judo event. And the after party is a legendary mix of good times and good vibes with everyone invited.
