Spartans Community Foundation

Spartans Community Foundation We are a charity and social enterprise using the power of people and sport to support our local community in North Edinburgh

At the heart of Spartans Community Foundation is our vision to change lives for the better in North Edinburgh. We do this by developing and delivering innovative programmes in youth work and education. We operate our facilities and community coaching programmes as a social enterprise, reinvesting profits back into the business to support our positive social impact in the community.

🚀 The countdown has begun! Our annual all-important fundraising dinner is on Thursday and we cannot wait.

So much to look forward to:
⭐️ Fred Macaulay ⭐️ is chatting with Leeds and Liverpool legend ⭐️ Gary McAllister ⭐️ about Scotland's journey to the 1998 World Cup, and his experiences at Euro 96.

AND we are privileged to welcome 🌟 Steve Clarke 🌟 reflecting on this year’s World Cup.

All this to raise crucial funds for us, the Spartans Community Foundation. We are so grateful to everyone involved in making this night so special 🙏🙏🙏 without it we couldn’t run so many of our programmes.

Karen, one of our hard-working staff had a vision 🤔 And today it started becoming a reality. Our Wee Connections programme for ASN families needs a peaceful space 😌So we are transforming a weed-strewn forgotten space at the back of the building into a sensory pathway. Thanks to volunteers from Brewin Dolphin we have made a great start on realising Karen’s vision. Watch this space for a full reveal next week 😉

💥A special event at the Edinburgh International Book Festival 💥

Young people from our Senior Alternative School had their writing performed by professional actors recorded in short films.

Such an entertaining evening as they were played out between interviews with key SCF staff and some of the writers. All hosted so professionally by our former Writer in Residence (funded by the Weir Charitable Trust) Owen Sutcliffe.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved for supporting the young people to showcase their considerable talent on the Book Festival stage!

Never a dull moment here at the Foundation, and things just got even busier for our hard working operations team. We now host Hearts Women’s home matches - today was the first - hot on the heels of our Spartans Women’s team first premier league match (well done to our colleague and team captain Robyn for ensuring the draw).
By hosting these important matches our social enterprise continues to support everything we do in the community. Get your feet up Paul, Naomi, Stu and the rest of the brilliant team - you deserve it!
