When a breed registers just 15 puppies a year, every mating matters.

The Royal Kennel Club and Edinburgh’s Roslin Institute are mapping DNA from around 125–150 Sussex Spaniels to build an evidence-based breeding strategy and help protect the breed’s future.

Sampling begins at the championship show in Coventry on 26 September, with postal sampling to follow.

Would you put your dog forward for a study like this?

DNA from up to 150 Sussex spaniels will be mapped to guide breeding choices in a 15-puppy-a-year breed. How owners enrol at the September show.
