Edinburgh Divetech BSAC 1067

Edinburgh Divetech BSAC 1067 Welcome to Edinburgh Divetech, a branch of BSAC scuba diving. We are always really happy to discuss diving and our club.

We are a small and friendly BSAC Scuba diving club in Edinburgh, with a mix of Ocean Divers to advanced divers. On this page you will see posts of what we have been up too, and also events such as our Try Dives which anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to come along too. If you would like to contact us for more info, please email us at [email protected] or come along to one of o

ur pub nights at the Haymarket Bar from 8pm on the second Tuesday of the month . If you let us know you are coming, we’ll look out for you. For new divers the first stages in learning to dive is a Try Dive followed by pool training. We carry out try dives and pool training in the autumn, noting we only offer training to over 18’s. The Try Dive will consist of a 30 – 45 minute pool session using basic scuba equipment, with an opportunity to find out more about diving and the club after the pool session. These activities will be advertised on this page. If, you’d like to register an interest in taking part in the try dives, please email us at [email protected] and we will get in contact with you when firm dates are arranged for the Try Dives. The BSAC website (https://www.bsac.com/home) also has lots of great information about learning to dive within the UK.

Keeping the camera dry this time, but the trip to the Isle of Arran served up lovely weather, nice food, and some great RIB dives! 🌊⚓️
Highlight of the trip: spotting an octopus hiding in a crack, alongside wrasse, conger eels, maerl beds, and some very feisty crabs! 🐙🦀

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful Sunday at St Abbs Harbour !
The marine life was out, about and feeding for our two dives - ballan wrasse, scorpion fish, shoals of sand eels, dahlia anemones, lobsters and various nudibranchs to name just a few 🐟🦀
A great way to kick off the spring and summer diving season 👏🤿🫧

First open water dives today for one of our trainees! A wonderful day and we even saw a SEA MOUSE! Thank you Loch Long!

Let’s be honest: if you want to enjoy the best of UK diving, you’ve got to master the drysuit! 😅

The classroom session is done, and now we’re heading to the pool to practice our forward rolls - and maybe a bit of buoyancy control - before the real adventure begins in open water. 🌊

All done! 🤿

We wrapped up our Ocean Diver lectures last night ✅
There’s only one thing standing in our way: The Exam (cue the dramatic music... 🎶).

With the pool sessions already under our belts - next stop: Drysuit and Sheltered/Open Water! 🌊

We headed to Seal Reef (Rubha Glas) yesterday and managed to dodge most of the showers.
It was a chilly one, and while the runoff from the rain made the surface layer pretty chilly—leaving us all with some stinging fingers—the "copious amounts" of pancakes during the surface interval definitely saved the day! 🥞

The wind made for some choppy surface conditions, but once we dropped below 10m, the visibility opened up beautifully. We were rewarded with tons of life across both reefs. 🦀🐟
