Last week our S3 SOR Girls had the fantastic opportunity of supporting Scottish Rugby Game Development State School Conference at Murrayfield.

They supported Robbie and Mrs Dewar as they presented to the conference about aspiring girls participation in rugby, and how he have built and grown this here at Leith. They then took part in a break out looking at safe contact skills and were rewarded with a tour of Murrayfield to finish the day.

Some lovely wee development games for our U14s tonight out at Queensferry to play them and Falkirk.

Highlight of the night has to be our final game where we had a Leith vs Leith derby with the boys showing off some of the best rugby we’ve ever seen them play.

A long 2 bus journeys but we thought we’d pose and have a little team photo with Paddington Bear on the way back which turned out quite wholesome.

For some reason, the sky is always beautiful whenever we play Queensferry - another little aesthetic pic for you all 🌅

🚨 Boys Squad for Saturday 🚨

Here is your U15 boys team to play Portobello Youth Rugby Academy on Saturday in the East youth league.

After a couple weekends off, the boys are raring to get back onto the pitch, and with a couple of our U14s stepping up - it’s one of the strongest teams we’ve put out this season!

KO is 10:30 at Cavalry Park - we’d love to have your support 💙

🚨 7 HILLS OF EDINBURGH FUNDRAISING WALK 🚨

The news is finally out… on the 28th November our boys and girls high-school teams will be walking the 7 hills of Edinburgh to fundraise for their end-of-season tours!!

The 15 mile route sees us start at Calton Hill before taking on Castle Rock, Corstorphine Hill, Craiglockhart Hill, Braid Hills, Blackford Hill, and finally Arthur Seat. It will be a long days effort but the group are excited to complete the goal in aid of their tours for this season!

Last seasons tours were an amazing success - and we want to build on them again this year. We want our tours to be an unforgettable experience for our young people, allowing them to build on their current friendships and develop skills and memories that will last them a lifetime. At Leith Rugby, we strive to ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation, meaning we rely on fundraising to allow experiences like this to happen.

If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, our young players would be extremely thankful as every donation takes them one step closer to a couple nights away from home with their friends. If not, we’d appreciate you just sharing the post - everything helps!!

✨ East Emerging Schools ✨

On Wednesday, our U13 and U14 boys, and U14 Girls travelled to Meggetland to compete in the first East Emerging Schools festival of the season.

We had 11 players playing rugby for the first time which was incredible 👏👏

These events are a fantastic opportunity for our new players to get positive game time in an environment designed to support their development - and to get them ready to take the step up to club rugby!

A massive well done to all our players who represented both the club and school so well 💙

Youth Coaching Developments!

As part of our Summer Community Hub programme, we ran a youth coaching course for our high-school players. We ran an indoor presentation with some group work, before the players took out to the field to design and deliver a 10 minute session to their peers based on different scenarios. After we enjoyed some lovely lunch!

Since then, many of our players have been down helping to coach on Sunday mornings with our minis section - with many of them even taking the trips to away days to help coach their teams! This is absolutely amazing and we can’t wait to see how this develops further.

This has been made possible by The City of Edinburgh Council sportscotland Summer of Sport 26’ Funding. We are very thankful to both for their contribution to our programme and are pleased to see their funding having such fantastic impacts on our young people 💙
