After two seasons together with a total of 15 x top 5 finishes and 25 further top 10 finishes (so far), not to mention multiple lap records, the Bathams AJN Race team and Storm Stacey will part at the end of the 2026 British Superbike season.

Storm has enjoyed his most successful two seasons of his BSB career with us and we are proud to have been part of Storms career so far.

Like every rider who races in the Black and Gold of Bathams AJN Racing, Storm has become part of our family and will always remain so.

It goes without saying that we wish him only the very best in the future, and to say a huge thank you to him for bringing his unique energy, enthusiasm and raw, sheer pace to our team.

We will make a further announcement in due course regarding its plans for the 2027 season.

We are pleased to announce that Charlie Nesbitt will be riding alongside Storm Stacey on a second Ducati Panigale V4R at the final round of the Zyn British Superbike Championship.

The team were kindly given permission to conduct a test on the Friday after Donington Park in order to evaluate some electronic settings. However, Storm was unavailable due to competing at a Supermoto race in Belgium, so Charlie stepped in to help the team.

As a token of our appreciation to Charlie and to collect further data for us, the team offered him the option to race at Brands Hatch on a second bike assembled mainly from the teams’ spare parts stock and components which were previously upgraded on Storms bike to Corse spec parts.

Rutter: “First of all, thank you to Charlie for stepping in at the last minute and riding around in the cold and rain for us at Oulton to give us some valuable feedback.

Second of all, it’s been a huge effort by the team to get a bike put together for him in time. We know it’s not the exact same spec as Storms bike which he rode at the test, and it leaves us with a very depleted spares stock, but Charlie and I feel that the opportunity for him to get back on track and us to put two bikes out is too good to miss”.

Nesbitt: “When Michael called to see if I could help at the test at Oulton, I jumped at the chance. Who wouldn’t?

I really enjoyed riding the bike even though it was cold and wet and we were on scrubbed tyres, the bike is mega. So, when he asked if I wanted to race at Brands Hatch, I couldn’t say no.

Even though the bike I’ll be on won’t be as good as Storms, and if the team need anything for Storms bike, it’ll most likely have to come from mine, it’s still a no brainer and I can’t wait.”

Bathams AJN Racing looking forward to The Cathedral of Speed

Round 8 of the British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park was very positive overall but unfortunately didn’t yield results that the pace of the bike promised during practice and qualifying. An unfortunate crash while lying in 3rd position early in race one left Storm out of position on the starting grid for race two and three.

Nonetheless, while a couple of decent points finishes were welcome, the race pace of the bike following its latest upgrade was highly encouraging and has definitely unlocked more potential from it which the team are very much looking forward to tapping into at The TT Circuit, Assen next week.

Stacey: “Obviously Cadwell Park was disappointing results-wise after practice and qualifying had gone well. However, Race three was very enjoyable and we were lapping at the same pace as the leaders after I had worked myself back in to the top ten, and the bike felt the best it has all season.

Assen was a bit cruel to us last year with the changeable weather conditions and a red flag in race one for heavy rain - when I was the only one on wet weather tyres. Anyway, hopefully we can pick up where we left off at Cadwell and get three decent results and of course I’m looking forward to seeing all the Dutch fans, especially if they’ve got top hats on!!”.

Rutter: “The bike definitely made a step in the right direction at Cadwell which gave us all a much needed boost after our recent run of form. It’s a shame about the crash in race one which unfortunately due to how the grids are set in BSB, did compromise the rest of the weekend for us, but that’s how it goes sometimes. At least we were at the front when it happened and able to lap as fast as the leaders during the remaining races.

Assen feels like unfinished business for us after last year, so we’re going there determined to set that straight”.

It’s safe to say that the past few meetings for the Bathams AJN Racing team have been a challenge. Handling limitations plus a crash during warm up at Oulton Park have dented the team and Storm Staceys early season run of form.

A triple DNF at Snetterton despite being one of just three riders to break a decade old lap record at the Norfolk circuit and in doing so to become the fastest ever Ducati to lap the circuit was especially unlucky and cruel.

The following round at Brands Hatch yielded just four points from the meeting due to a reluctant chassis.

Oulton Park, once again saw a return to sub lap record pace and another front row start in qualifying followed by a 4th place finish, only for a warm up crash in which the bike rolled 5 times and stall the momentum.

Thruxton then saw a combination of Brands Hatch’s uncooperative chassis in race 1 with a 10th place finish, and Snettertons bad luck with a technical issue in race 2 which also ruled Storm out of race 3.

The teams ambitious project to develop a competitive superbike in house with its technical partners is ongoing. It has made significant progress in some areas such as the engine and electronics, and we continue to work flat out to make the chassis more consistent at more circuits.

Stacey: “As a racer, of course I wish we had a more consistent bike, but it’s also true that without the opportunity to test in season, we were always going to be doing all our learning in the heat of competition and in full view of the fans and media.

At difficult times like this, it’s important to take a step back and remind ourselves how far we’ve come since we started. I know it will take more than a run of bad luck and odd wrong turn here and there with the development of the bike to dent my and the team’s motivation. We’re so close and we’re all looking forward to the next four rounds”.

Rutter: “I’m confident we have a very fast and competitive bike, but right now it’s just lacking some consistency in the handling almost certainly due to us reaching the limit of what’s possible with the road bike components that we are still using on it.”

We’re heading into the weekend with confidence... and style!

Keep an eye out for the new Bathams AJN Racing van around the paddock as it joins our fleet at Oulton Park for round six of the British Superbike Championship.

Thank you to Norfolk Truck & Van Ltd for supplying the Renault Trafic L2H1 as well as the team at Indigo Ross for the design and wrap, it certainly looks the part next to our race truck!
