What a day to be involved with Greystone! 🔴⚪️⚫️⚽

A truly dominant display against the league and cup double winners, Gretna, capped off a fantastic season in style. This team just keeps getting better and better, and it’s a privilege to be involved with such a talented and hardworking squad.

We got off to the perfect start with a superb free-kick from Sonny, before Miki fired us back in front when it mattered most. Jay then put the game beyond doubt with two tremendous header as we stormed to a memorable 4-1 victory.

Every single player on that pitch gave everything for the badge today. The work rate, determination, and team spirit were outstanding from first whistle to last. Each and every one of them deserves enormous credit for a performance that showcased exactly what this team is all about.

An incredible effort, a fantastic result, and a day that will live long in the memory of everyone connected with Greystone. 👏💪🏆

Bill Quinn Final Sunday 31 May at Galabank Annan kick off 13:00.

This Sunday sees the team compete in the final tournament of the season the Bill Quinn Trophy. Once again, our opponents will be Gretna 2011s, who we have faced twice in recent weeks. The Raydale Park side edged the league meeting 3–2 before securing a 4–1 victory in the Alex Whiteside Trophy final.

The Greystone boys have been working hard in training and are determined to put things right this weekend. They know it will be a tough challenge, but the squad remains confident despite the recent results against the Black and Whites.

As with the previous two meetings, this promises to be a highly competitive match. Whichever side comes out on top will undoubtedly have earned the victory through hard work and determination.

⚽️ SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY ⚽️

Greystone Rovers 2011s are currently looking for a local business or sponsor to support the team with brand new matchday strips for the upcoming season.

Our boys continue to work hard, develop together and represent the club with pride every week, and we’re hoping to partner with a sponsor who would like to support grassroots football in the local community.

Sponsorship would provide:
✅ Your company logo on our new matchday kits
✅ Promotion across our social media platforms
✅ Support for a great group of young players and volunteers
✅ Visibility at matches and tournaments throughout the season, including the Scottish Cup and games outwith the Region both to the north and into Cumbria.

Grassroots football plays a huge role in developing young players both on and off the pitch, and any support would be hugely appreciated.

🏆 ALEX WHITESIDE TROPHY FINAL 🏆

⚫️⚪️ Gretna 2011’s 4-1 Greystone Rovers 2011’s 🔴⚪️⚫️

A fantastic occasion on Sunday as two excellent sides met in the Alex Whiteside Trophy Final 👏

Gretna took an early lead after a deflected shot looped over Duncan in the Greystone goal, but despite the early setback the game quickly settled into a very competitive contest with little separating the teams.

Both sides battled hard all over the park and just before half time came a moment of real quality from Jay O’Hagan ⚽️🔥

A goal worthy of Premier League pundits drooling over it on Match of the Day, as Jay produced a superb 40yard finish to level the game at 1-1 heading into the break.

The second half remained finely balanced with both midfields working tirelessly and both defences standing strong whenever chances appeared. It was a proper cup final with every player giving absolutely everything.

With around 20 minutes to go, Gretna’s winger got the break of the ball, cut inside and produced an excellent finish from the edge of the box to restore Gretna’s lead at 2-1.

To their credit, the Greystone boys never stopped competing and continued to match Gretna all over the pitch. However, with around 5 minutes remaining, a failure to fully clear the ball allowed a looping effort to find the net and make it 3-1.

The league champions weren’t finished there. A late breakaway saw the Greystone keeper make an excellent initial save, only for the rebound to fall kindly to the Gretna attacker who finished to make the final score 4-1.

Congratulations to Gretna 2011’s on securing the league and cup double 🏆🏆A fantastic achievement at any level 👏

Massive congratulations as well to Greystone Rovers 2011’s on reaching the final. The scoreline probably doesn’t fully reflect the game, although Gretna perhaps just shaded it overall on the day.

Special mention to Sonny, who received praise from Alex Whiteside himself for his performance 👏🏻 and well done to Gretna’s John Urquhart on picking up Man of the Match 👏

Finally, thank you to all the supporters on the day your backing was superb from start to finish 👏🏻👏🏻

We go again in the Bill Quinn Shield on Sunday 31st May against either Stranraer or Gretna.

After an unforgettable league encounter at Raydale Park, the two sides meet again this time with silverware on the line 👀

Their last meeting had everything:🔥 High intensity football⚽️ Stunning goals👏 Huge support from both clubs💪 End-to-end action right until the final whistle

Gretna edged a thrilling contest 3-2 on the day, but both teams showed incredible quality, determination and character throughout, it was a brilliant advert for youth football.

Now the stage is set once again for another massive battle as these two talented sides compete for the Alex Whiteside Trophy 🏆

If the previous game is anything to go by, supporters are in for another fantastic match between two excellent groups of players who never stop until that final whistle.

🔴⚪️⚫️ Greystone 2011 vs Gretna 2011 ⚫️⚪️

What a game at Raydale Park last night and a fantastic advert for youth football 👏

The game started brightly for both teams with a huge support there for a youth fixture. From the first whistle it was clear both sides were right up for it. The opening exchanges set the tone for the match, high intensity, competitive, and both teams searching for the breakthrough.

It was Gretna who struck first after a great turn inside the box and a snap shot that beat the Greystone keeper to make it 1-0. Gretna then doubled their lead soon after to make it 2-0, although the scorer looked a yard offside, but the referee waved away any appeals.

The pace and intensity never dropped after the restart, with both teams continuing to provide great entertainment for the crowd. Nearing the end of the first half, Greystone got themselves right back into the game when Zak Malin unleashed an incredible 25-yard volley beyond the Gretna keeper to make it 2-1, suddenly we had a real game on our hands again 🔥

The second half continued at the same relentless pace. Both teams kept battling, but Greystone began creating the better chances. Their reward came from a corner which dropped kindly to Jay O’Hagan, who swivelled brilliantly inside the box and fired past the keeper to level things up at 2-2 ⚽️

At that stage you might have expected tired legs, but both sets of boys kept going and continued to play some outstanding football.

With around 15 minutes to go, Gretna broke down the right-hand side and a dangerous cross resulted in their third goal, a goal that ultimately proved to be the winner, but not before Sonny struck the cross bar from a Greystone free kick giving the home support a fright.

To their credit, the Greystone boys never gave up and created several chances to equalise again, but it just wasn’t to be.

A brilliant advert for youth football at Raydale Park, with both teams putting on a display full of effort, quality and determination 👏

Congratulations to Gretna 2011 on winning the league 🏆

And to the Greystone boys — heads held high. You never gave up, matched them all over the park, and on another day a draw would have been a fair result.

We go again soon 🔴⚪️⚫️

What a showstopper of a performance! The opening 15-20 minutes were nothing short of electrifying, with relentless action and a flurry of goals. We then seized control, bringing a sense of calm and expertly managing the game through the rest of the first half. In the second half, battling against the wind, our defence was rock solid, maintaining a high line and executing superb headers back to the keeper. Today, we witnessed some truly spectacular goals, and in terms of performance, this is the pinnacle of what the entire squad has delivered in quite some time. It was a genuine team effort across the pitch, with the substitutes seamlessly integrating and maintaining the momentum. As coaches, we couldn’t be more proud of the lads; each one rose to the occasion, proving what we’ve always believed this team is capable of taking on any opponent, as long as everything aligns, and today, it did. Reaching two finals at any level is a remarkable feat, yet these boys have accomplished it. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend.
