⚽️ Match report ⚽️
Back on the road again after a few weeks off. This time we travelled to Newton Stewart to take on the high flying league leaders Galloway Thistle. From the kick off both teams got stuck in and battled hard to try and get the upper hand. It was Greystone who took the lead with Rory bursting through into the box to put a nice finish into the net. Galloway upped the tempo and soon equalised. Game on as both teams started to play really good football. Greystone took the lead again when Aaron fired into the roof of the net from the edge of the box but again Galloway came roaring back the equaliser just before half time. 2-2. Second half and Galloway drew first blood to take the lead. This seemed to spur the boys on and Greystone really upped the energy levels. Aaron equalised into the bottom corner after good work from Rory to find a cross, Rocco fired a great shot high into the net and Noah got a late finish firing into the far corner. The boys even missed a couple of penalties so final score being a 5-3 win. Great result but credit to both teams for fantastic game of skilful football. Thanks to Galloway for being great hosts and to both set of parents who clapped all the actions of both teams.

⚽️ Match Report ⚽️
This week our boys were on the road again, this time to play the league leaders Threave Rovers at Dalbeattie High School. Both teams had played out an exciting 3-3 draw earlier in the campaign and this one turned out just as good. From the kick off both teams were really up for the clash and fit the most part were cancelling each other out with most of the battles being played out in midfield. Clear cut chances were hard to come by. However it was Greystone who drew first blood, Rory won the ball in midfield and drove forward before playing a nicely weighted pass through to Aaron who was faced by an advancing keeper. He managed to keep his cool and placed a shot high into the net. 1-0 at half time. Start of the second half saw Threave come out of the blocks quickly winning a series of corners. One such corner was not cleared properly and a near finish made the score 1-1. The battle in midfield raged on and both teams battled away trying to get control. Greystone went in front again when Aaron managed to win the ball and burst into the box before hitting a fine finish into the far corner. Threave then threw the kitchen sink at Greystone and despite defending well the boys conceded a second goal from a corner kick that wasn’t cleared. 2-2 and with time marching on both teams had half chances to score however it was Threave than managed to get a close range winner and sneak the three point. It was really hard luck on the Greystone boys who were more than worthy of potentially taking something from the game but that’s football 😂 Well done to Threave on the day and both teams finished the game shaking hands and getting well done acknowledgment from coaches and parents alike. Next were on cup business away to St Cuthberts in Kirkcudbright. ⚽️

Match report- First game of 2026 was our visit to Sunny Stranraer for an early game. Both sides kicked off and showed some good midfield move with no real chances being created early doors. It was Greystone who drew first blood with Angus shooting home from a good move inside the home teams box. The boys held this lead until just before half time when a long range shot crept into the corner. 1-1 half time. Second have saw the home team take the lead with a scrappy goal being conceded from a Greystone perspective. Greystone pushed hard for an equaliser and came close when Aaron’s shot hit the post but unluckily rolled across the goal line instead of going in. Stranraer hit a late breakaway goal to seal the victory but the scoreline was not a true reflection of what was a very even game. Great effort from all the boys yesterday and a big thanks to all the parents for travelling so far on a Saturday morning. Next stop away to the league leaders at Threave.

Match report - Forget World Cup finals Champions League titles and all that guff yesterday saw the 2025 battle of the titans. Yes the annual parents v Greystone 2013 boys. Straight from the start the Greystone 2013s went for it Braxton fired them ahead from close range followed by Caleb making it two. Parents were suffering, crowds were in disbelief and the boys were hyper playing total football. Digging deep the parents came roaring back to make it 2-2. However the boys dug deep with two goals from Aaron and Rory they soon restored their lead. The parents at this point felt like Jake Paul’s jaw bone totally broken and in need of help. Elliot and Scott were trying their best up front to make it look like a rugby game with shots both high and wide. Grant and Dave huffed and puffed whilst Eivlias in goal was always on alert. At the back Iain and Amr at the back were like two Rolls Royce engines just purring through the game. Big Steve was like a rock whilst Kyle was fighting with his new boots and sore feet 😂 Paul Dodds completed line up with an amazing show of strictly come dancing foot work. In the end experience came through and a quick flurry of goals gave the parents a 6-4 victory. With the boys seeking revenge for next year so the story continues. That concludes 2025 for the boys so a Merry Xmas and happy New Year to all those who have supported us this season.

⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️

Final match report of 2025 - back to league duty today Greystone played host to St Cuthberts from Kirkcudbright. On a windy day both teams were up for it from the start and started off trying to play football on the deck however the prevailing wind made it difficult. Greystone took an early lead with a goal straight from the corner by Angus followed by Aaron making it 2 nil.
This lead to a period of sustained pressure from Greystone and they quickly added to the tally with goals from Angus, Callan (2), Rory(2), Blake (3) and another for Aaron. St Cuthberts got a late reply with a well worked move. Final score 11-1.
Big thanks to all the parents and referee for a well played and supported game.

Next stop will be the annual Kids v Parents match on Sat 20th. Matt and Scott are in full training mode whilst Grant, Johnny and Gliden are dusting down their old Gola Trainers and knee length shorts hoping that they fit 😂 all welcome to play or attend starting at 1030.

Match report- Today we played host to our good friends and league leaders Threave Rovers. It was a cold and windy day and from the kick off both teams fought hard to try and get the upper hand. It was Greystone who took the lead, Aaron hit the post and Blake was first to react to put the ball into the net. Threave then put the foot on the gas and were soon level after a wee mix up froze the home team. Threave then took the lead. Greystone then took the upper hand and the visitors goal keeper pulled off a sting of excellent saves to thwart the home attack however a low shot into the bottom corner finally drew the home team level. 2-2 at half time. Second half saw both teams huff and puff with only a few half chances being created however a low left foot shot from Blake put Greystone back in front. This was short lived with Threave equalised following a high lobbed shot. Final score 3-3 big shout to both teams for a great game in cold weather and a great example of how kids football should be played in a friendly match. Also thanks to the referee Tommy Crombie who was first class.

Match report- local derby day as Greystone played host to Lochar who met for the second time this year. Both sets of players were well up for the challenge at kickoff. First blood fell to Greystone as Aaron found some space n the box to clip a nice finish over the advancing keeper. 1 nil however within two mins Lochar wasted no time in pulling one back. Greystone then piked in the pressure and soon retook the lead with a nice free kick from Blake and a fine solo effort from Callan who beat two players and finished well. 3-1 . This prompted Lochar into a too action and a well taken goal from ex Greystone player Oli made it 3-2. Minutes pushed in and Lochar got as equaliser to make it 3-3. This was the final score as both teams came off the pitch knackered due to their sterling efforts. A draw was probably the fair result for both teams. No game next week and then we play the current league leaders Threave.

⚽️Match report⚽️
Sunday kick off this week as Greystone played host to Gretna. A really early kick off for all the boys and parents today on a horrid rainy day for all. From the kick off both teams battled the elements however it was our centre half Cam who put the home team in the lead with a good strike from the edge of the box. This settled the boys and the home team dominated the rest of the first half with further goals scorered by Angus, Blake (2) Archie and Aaron (2). Second half started an Gretna started to play really well and pulled back the score line with some great goals with Archie’s powerful running causing a few problems for the home team. This continued until further goals from Aaron and Braxton (2) made the final score 10-3. Special mention to the poor old referee who had more matches to officiate after our game in such bad weather. Great effort from both teams again.
