Motherhood ❤️

The role of being a mother, a householder, teacher, Mysore program director, carer and all, means I put many hats on everyday. But I’m *incredibly* lucky that they can crossover, interlink and support one another often like this.

Here, Isla and I eating porridge after I finish teaching for the morning.
2 days a week, our dear colleague and friend picks her up from my home in Leith and comes to the shala with her for when I finish teaching. This means that Isla is in the room with me teaching/ assisting for 15+mins those days. Making various levels of noise and destruction and most definitely messing up everyone’s dristi. We are SO grateful for how everyone welcomes her.

We then roll out together for the rest of the day, I grab moments to do things like write work emails, visit my Dad or organise our upcoming trip to Mysore.

We will be in Mysore the month of January. My first time in 6 years! Looking forward to diving deep in study with again and the bigger community.

Led class on the 1st Friday of the month is always a playful exploration of Intermediate series. This month 2nd of primary and 1st half of Intermediate series!

As the nights drawn in, we are offering a few pop up Yoga Nidra’s online with Penny Horner for our Mysore community and beyond.

🌙 This Sunday 15th 20:00-20:45 🌙

Not only will they provide you a luscious nights sleep after (and therefore easier to wake up for your practice the next morning!) they are also a fundraiser for Edinburgh Community Yoga too.

*Introduction to Intermediate Series* workshop.

Sunday 10th September 12:00-15:00. Hybrid (online & instudio).

Explorative look at the key themes of the 2nd series, including mythology, energetics and movements.

A special moment today…

Felt like a proud Mysore “mother” (director!) watching our Mysore assistants step up and take the reigns solo this week as some of the main mysore teacher’s take holiday.

Here is Roxie starting to teach her first led half primary today covering Vanessa. Katie Paterson also has been running the room solo last week too.

All our assistants are all long term daily practitioners of a minimum of 3+ years (some of them 10+yrs!). One of my most important prerequisite to become a Mysore assistant in our team is that they’ve had enough time themselves on their mat first. Even more specifically that they’ve ridden a few waves 🌊 of challenges, highs and lows, and even injury (not injury for āsana! Maybe from life!). My focus is much less about physically aptitude more about mental skill and stamina to meet yourself each day.

*1st Friday of the month updates*

1st Friday of the month the 07:00 Led class will be a Led 1/2 & 1/2 for the next wee while rather than a more traditional Led intermediate series. The other Friday’s of the month at led primary as normal.

We are changing it up as we respond to what our community needs right now. Led 1/2&1/2 is a more accessible, playful and exploratory entrance into Intermediate series with half of primary series first and the first portion of intermediate.

Anyone who is familiar with Primary series is welcome.

Offered both in studio and online. Details on Meadowlark’s app (see photo to right).

FREE Hybrid Chanting and pranayama directly after also.

Ps how glorious is my early morning practice spot? Sunshine streaming through the windows over the meadows. ☀️
