It’s been an extremely busy weekend in more ways than one for our club.
Setting off early this morning, Harry Sugars had his first bout back after 10 years out on the Halton Boxing Club show in Widnes. Coaches Nick McGarry and Andrew Davies travelled up to corner Harry, and by all accounts he boxed brilliantly in a great contest. The bout went the full 3 rounds, with the decision going to his opponent from Halton.
Both lads will box again on our home show next weekend, and it promises to be an excellent bout. Well done Harry — it takes some doing getting back in there after all those years out. Nick and Ginger were extremely impressed with how well you boxed.
Over on the Yeovil show, Ollie Lee was top of the bill in a 22-bout show — so yes, he was on last 😂 but that comes with the territory at this level. Ollie boxed brilliantly over the distance to secure the win, and the last round was an absolute barn burner 💪
Well done Ollie — and you’re back out again on our show next weekend as well.
John Biu and Joe Freeman were in today helping push our boxers through their final preparations for our show. John put together a cracking session to test everyone and get them sharp and ready. Joe is going to make a great coach as well, alongside Harry, who is also completing his coaching course.
On Friday night, Taunton ABC brought down Liam Tate to spar Liam Davis, and the lads had some excellent rounds together. Well done to both boxers — it’s all about helping each other improve and grow.
Finally, I just want to thank every single member of our team for their dedication and attention to detail in getting our boxers out competing and prepared properly. The whole club appreciates the time and effort you give up for our boxers.
And to the boxers themselves — we couldn’t be prouder. You travel all over the country to compete, always give everything, and consistently put in great performances. We are proud of every single one of you.
