Adult Riding Club – Term Overview 🌟

📘 Stable Management – More Structure & Focus

This term we’ll be giving the stable management section much more structure to ensure everyone completes their booklets.
We’ll be working through:

• Essential stable management skills
• Practical tasks needed for sign‑off
• Knowledge checks to support your riding goals

🐎 June Riding Focus – Impulsion & Riding in the Open

Our riding theme for June is impulsion — true impulsion, not speed.
We’ll be exploring:

• Developing power from behind
• Maintaining rhythm without rushing
• Riding with balance and control

Alongside this, we’ll be working on riding in the open, including:

• Highway Code for riders
• Safe hacking practices
• Opening and shutting gates
• A hack or two to put it all into practice

🦘 Jumping Booklets – Beginner to Advanced

Once the riding foundations are set, we’ll move into the jumping booklets.
This will include:

• Riding simple and progressive jump lines
• Understanding and using light seat
• Looking at arena XC fences
• Riding technical lines with confidence

Suitable for all levels — from beginner to advanced.

🌳 End‑of‑Term Trip (TBC)

We are hoping to finish the term with a trip to Horseshoe Farm.
This is still in the planning stages.
If it isn’t possible, we will instead run:

• A full arena XC course, or
• A session in the XC field

Either way, it will be a brilliant end‑of‑term challenge.

🦺 Safety Equipment

For XC‑style sessions you will need:

• A back protector
• A non‑peaked hat (you can borrow one of ours)

If you don’t own a back protector, don’t worry — we can discuss options in the sessions, and many riders are happy to lend one.

June’s theme: Impulsion 🐴✨

Impulsion isn’t about speed — it’s about creating forward energy from the hindquarters while keeping the rhythm steady and the contact soft.
When a horse has impulsion, they feel lighter in the hand, more responsive, and more balanced, because the power is coming from behind, not from pulling through the shoulders.

This month we’re helping riders understand:
• How to ride forward without rushing
• How leg → seat → soft hand creates true impulsion
• How transitions and polework build push, lift, and activity
• How impulsion sits after rhythm and suppleness on the Scales of Training
• How a more active hindleg makes everything easier — steering, balance, jumping, and confidence

Impulsion is the foundation for a horse who listens, carries themselves, and stays adjustable in every stride. It’s a game‑changer for riders at every level.
