Just returned from Aintree Round 2.
Apologies for the lack of updates, but it certainly wasn't an easy day!
We arrived to incredibly strong winds, so it was a very basic setup. Of course, only we could end up parking right next to a beehive! 🐝🫣
Qualifying didn't go to plan for Mike, with a persistent issue that we just couldn't get sorted. James, on the other hand, absolutely smashed it, taking two pole positions.
After spending hours trying to fix Mike's bike, he missed the first Twin race but made it out for the second, starting from the back of the grid and won! Starting from the back again in race three, he took another win and smashed the lap record by over a second. He then rounded off the day with another victory in the final Twin race. It was truly a day of two halves for Mike, but thanks to Jason, the issues are now sorted and we're ready for the Southern 100.
James had a busy day, competing across four classes. Apart from one little mishap….. going straight on like a kangaroo! 😂, he rode faultlessly all day, with the bike performing perfectly and lapping at lap record pace himself. It was one victory, two seconds and 17th (🦘) for #21. Brilliant!!!!
Overall, the day ended on a real high. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who helped get us there and back out on track. Managing two riders on different bikes with constant back-to-back races is no easy task.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support us too and to the Club for being so understanding while we worked to diagnose and test the issue.
Finally, thank you to all the officials, medics and the wonderful Orange Army for everything you do to keep us racing safely.
Onwards to the Southern 100! 💪🏁
