Last league game of what has been a fantastic block of 13 matches for us, and today we travelled to Little Kerse to take on Gairdoch.
Going into the game, we were already up against it, missing both Oscar and Zander, our other recognised defenders. That meant a bit of reshuffling, but the boys stepped up and gave everything as always.
There has never been much between the two teams over the years, and today was no different. For me, it came down to taking chances and who could adapt best to the challenging conditions, with the howling wind playing a big part in the game.
A little more composure in certain moments and perhaps the outcome could have been different, but football is a game of fine margins and there is no point dwelling on the "ifs, buts and maybes."
This was our first defeat of the block, but credit to Gairdoch, who took their chances well, managed the second half effectively, and defended their box superbly when it mattered most.
Our Man of the Match today goes to David, who put in a fine display down both wings. His work rate, energy and quality on the ball were evident throughout, and he has been a very good addition to the team since joining us. Well done, David.
We now move into competitive football, and I am sure both ourselves and Gairdoch will be looking forward to testing ourselves against each other again, with plenty of silverware up for grabs in the months ahead.
A disappointing result today, but one that does not take away from what has been an excellent run from the boys, 71 goals scored and only 13 conceded is an outstanding effort from everyone involved. We will regroup after a well deserved 4 week break and be ready for the season ahead. β½οΈβ½οΈβ½οΈ
