What a way to finish our Portimão Box Cup 🇵🇹🥊

Finals day started brilliantly with our little Rosie Hughes winning our first gold medal of the day.

What a performance from Rosie. Strong, sharp and powerful from the first bell, stopping her opponent in the first round.

We knew she was ready for this and she proved us right. We could not be any prouder of her.

Next up was our Toya.

Toya put in an absolute warrior performance against a quality opponent from Spain with far more experience. She gave 100 percent from start to finish, never stopped working, and showed exactly what she is made of.

She comes home with a silver medal, but for us that was a massive win for her. The experience, the performance and the heart she showed was something to be proud of.

Last up was our Moken.

Another masterclass performance. He boxed beautifully for all three rounds, controlled the bout, and showed his level again on an international stage. The decision went the other way despite what seemed to us all as a clear win. It is what it is, we take it and move on.

We could not be prouder of all three finalists yesterday.

As a team, Crewkerne Boxing Club come away from the Portimão Box Cup with:

1 gold medal
2 silver medals
4 bronze medals

That is a massive achievement for our club.

We have gained experience, learned loads, made memories, and shown that our boxers belong on this stage.

A huge thank you to our coaches, parents, sponsors and everyone who helped make this trip possible. These opportunities mean so much to the boxers and they have done the club proud.

Finals day at the Portimão Box Cup 🇵🇹🥊

We go into today’s finals with our last 3 boxers flying the flag.

Should have been 5. A couple of decisions that should of gone our way didn’t but that will not take anything away from the effort, attitude and performances from the whole team.

The boxing from our crew has been quality. Every one of them has represented the Club properly, shown their level, and proved they belong on an international stage.

The atmosphere in camp is still strong, everyone is positive, and we are proud of the full squad.

Now it is about backing our 3 finalists today.

What a start for Crewkerne Boxing Club at the Portimão Box Cup 🇵🇹🥊

We came out here with 10 boxers and we go into the semi finals with 8.

That is a massive achievement for the team.

The performances yesterday were brilliant. Every one of them has stepped up, held their own, and shown exactly why they are here.

A little club from a small rural town, competing on an international stage against boxers from all over the world. That is something to be proud of.

The support around the team has been unreal as well. Coaches, parents, teammates, everyone pulling together and backing each other.

This is what these trips are all about.

Busy one in the club last night 🥊

A tough, technical sparring session with loads of good work going on. These sessions are a big part of the boxers’ development, learning, listening, working with different people and helping each other improve.

Great to see the gym full, everyone grafting and the atmosphere as strong as ever. Nights like this show what the club is all about.

We also had two birthdays in the gym, our Poppy is now 18 and Blake is 23.
Both of them are a big part of Crewkerne Boxing Club and we’re proud to have them with us.

Cracking night of sparring last night at the club. 🥊💥

Massive thank you to Taunton Amateur Boxing Club for bringing their boxers down. It was a brilliant night, with some great rounds in the bank and top preparation for both clubs ahead of the Portimão Box Cup .

Both teams will be travelling out to Portugal in the next few weeks and staying in the same hotel, so it was great to get everyone together, get some quality work done and see both clubs thriving.

Brilliant night as always, great atmosphere, great sparring and exactly what the lads and girls needed.

Two great wins for the club over the last week, with both lads putting in top performances ahead of our trip to Portugal in two weeks.

First up was Brad, who was out earlier in the week and delivered another powerhouse performance, stopping his opponent in the first round. Brad came out sharp, strong and focused, set the pace straight away and gave his opponent no chance to settle. A brilliant performance and another great win under his belt.

Then this weekend, Sam stepped through the ropes and showed real class. A very tidy, controlled and skilful performance from start to finish, picking his shots well, staying composed and showing the levels he is capable of. He boxed brilliantly to take a unanimous decision win.

Two lads, two performances, two wins.
The whole team has been working hard in the gym, and results like this are a great boost as we get ready to head out to Portugal for the Portimão Box Cup.
