The 25/26 season has finished for the Roses. What a season its been, the girls once again going from strength to strength. The girls this season have been challenging right at the top of the league all season, only losing 4 of our 20 league games this season. Preparations for the 26/27 season are now underway.

We're looking at adding a couple of girls to the squad, Septembers year 10's (or 9 playing up a year) So if your daughter wants to get involved or is after a new challenge or a new team next season, pop us a message and try out a training session.

We train on Thursday evenings in Crewe, Cheshire. Playing our games in the Cheshire Girls league on Saturdays.

Managers match report:

Ruskin Park Roses vs Appleton Galaxy

Last game of the season this morning, and a glorious sunny day, as the Roses looked to make it 7 games unbeaten to finish the season.

A very even start to the game, both teams playing some good football. Appleton created a few early chances but both efforts sailed over the bar. Down the other end the Appleton keeper made a couple of good stops, once coming out to meet Mia and make a good stop. Then Libby also found space and the keeper again made a good stop and held onto the ball well. It was an end to end kind of game, with Appleton also creating chances, Meg saving a long range effort and they got through our defence but lifted the ball too high and out for a goal kick. Before half time, yet more chances, Emily and Hope with long range strikes that went wide, before Appleton did go in front just before half time, we allowed one of their players too much time and space and fired in a good strike from outside of the box that found the bottom corner.

Half time: Roses 0-1 Appleton Galaxy

At half time, we just gave the girls abit of encouragement to close down the opposition abit quicker and play abit higher up pitch.

We started the half, on top and pinned Appleton back in there own half. Libby and Amelia were pressing from the front and winning the ball high up the pitch. Libby got in down the right on the break but her shot drifted just wide. Then we found our equaliser and it was a beauty, Mia picked the ball up on the left and played a really clever ball inside to HOPE, her 1st touch was perfect and she struck a piledriver from 25 yards out that arrowed into the top corner ๐Ÿš€. It didn't take long and we turn the game on its head and took the lead. Freya with a trademark long throw launched into the box and the ball found LIBBY at the back post and she finished it off nicely. The girls were now well on top and playing some lovely football, we nearly added another goal, we worked the ball out wide to Emily, and she burst past her marker and delivered a great ball for Libby but she couldn't quite bundle the ball in. As the game got into it's final minutes, Appleton once again started to put us under pressure, an Appleton forward raced through on goal, but Freya did super well to eat up the ground and get back putting in a solid last ditch tackle. With only a minute or so remaining Appleton won a free kick right on the edge of the box, but fortunately for us it flew over the bar.

Full time: Ruskin Park Roses 2-1 Appleton Galaxy (Hope, Libby)

What a fantastic game to end the season. A fantastic performance and result vs a team that before today had only lost once all season. It means we finish the season 7 games unbeaten, which again is a good achievement for the girls and our longest unbeaten run to date.

Coaches POTM ๐Ÿ†: EMILY - Fantastic performance by our right winger, she was so energetic, and battled hard in every challenge. Some good quality in wide positions aswell, whipping in a few dangerous crosses.

Parent POTM ๐Ÿ†: MILLIE - Another top performance by Mil, protected the back 3 really well and showed real quality on the ball, she used great feet numerous times to get our of tricky situations.

Manager match report:

Davenham vs Ruskin Park Roses

This morning the girls had to deal with a last minute pitch change due to a double booking with the home teams pitch, meaning we were forced to play on a very tricky pitch that wasn't lined and grass was very long.

Despite this the Roses started very quickly out of the blocks. Freyas long throw found LIBBY who confidently dispatched her effort into the goal to give us an early lead. It was then soon 2-0, this time Isabelle did well in the box finding some space before setting up AMELIA who placed her shot into the bottom corner. We then switched off abit and allowed Davenham back into the game, they deservedly got them selves back into the game when a through ball held up in the grass and a really good strike gave Meg no chance. It took us a while to get going again, but eventually a lovely run down the right wing by Emily and she crossed perfectly for LIBBY and she calmly placed in her 40th goal of the season and our 3rd of the day.

Half time: Davenham 1-3 Ruskin Roses

We started the 2nd half exactly the same as we started the 1st, with an early goal and it came from the exact same route. A Freya long throw found LIBBY again and she completed her hat trick. Davenham were struggling to deal with the long throws and Freyas throw again caused chaos, this time finding Amelia but her shot was blocked, the ball found MIA though who smashed in to make it 1-5. We soon added another, Davenham attempted to play out from the back but EMILY'S press was very good, winning the ball then squeezing a shot in from a tight angle to extend our lead. Next was a lovely goal by the Roses a nice move that involved Merc, Millie and then Elise, who threaded a ball through perfectly for LIBBY and another composed finish for her 4th of the game. Then Libby turned provider, playing a ball through for AMELIA, she used her strength to shrug off the Davenham defender and picked out the bottom corner, her 10th of the season (we asked for double figures from Amelia this season and she delivered in the penultimate game). Then came the big nearly moment, after the Roses were awarded a penalty. Freya who so often creates goals and certainly stops them, had never scored in over 3 years for the Roses stepped up, unfortunately her penalty went wide though, fair play to her for stepping up though. There was time for another goal though and it came from yet another one of those Freya throws, this time it was flicked on by Mercedes to MIA who finished at the back post.

Full time: Davenham 1-9 Ruskin Park Roses (Libby 4, Amelia 2, Emily, Mia 2)

A tricky pitch to get used to, but the girls did a great job and once again scored some lovely goals. Also the defence once again on form after abit of a slow start from them.

Coaches POTM ๐Ÿ†: ISABELLE - Brought so much energy to the midfield. Some great tackles, lovely turns on the ball and a nice assist in the 1st half.

Parents POTM ๐Ÿ†: MIA - She had been struggling a bit with an injury, but still put in a good shift upfront and also on the wing, resulting in her bagging a couple of nice goals.

Managers match report:

Ruskin Park Roses vs Cuddington & Sandiway

The girls had been on a good run recently, but this was going to be tough today, as we only had 10 players available.

It was quite an even start to the game, neither side creating many chances. It was Cuddington that took the lead though, a corner was only half cleared and a shot from the edge of box flew past Meg in the goal. Roses responded well and got on top, forcing Cuddington to do alot of defending. Then a scramble in the box but AMELIA found a bit of space and squeezed her shot in at the near post. Roses were now flying, Libby did well taking on her defender and hitting a rocket of a shot that hit the crossbar. Things got even tougher for the Roses then as Isabelle took a painful ball the the face and couldnt continue so the girls were going to have to see the game out with just 9 players. Despite their severe numerical disadvantage the Roses then took the lead. A Freya long throw found AMELIA who hit a cracking volley and gave the Cuddington keeper no chance. Just before half time we thought we had a 3rd when Libby went through and took her finish well but it was pulled back for offside.

Half time: Roses 2-1 Cuddington

2nd half was beginning to become a problem with just 9 tiring girls against a very strong wind, we were starting to struggle to get out of our half. Probably somewhat against the run of play we scored again though, and it was another fabulous goal. A perfect through ball by Millie found EMILY who knocked the ball through struck a sweet strike that beat the keeper at her near post. Only a minute later though we let Cuddington back into it. We failed to clear the ball a couple of times and were punished for it. Straight after that we nearly went further ahead again, Emily getting through and again a similar shot to her 1st but this time she rattled the post. Cuddington then managed to level, the Roses players looked like they thought the ball had gone out and stopped, Cuddington continued though and a low cross took a deflection and rolled frustratingly into the far corner. Just before the end the Roses nearly won it, Freya again with a throw that caught Cuddington out, Libby got to the ball but when clean through just didn't get a clean shot on goal and the keeper saved.

Full time: Ruskin Park Roses 3-3 Cuddington & Sandiway (Amelia 2, Emily)

Despite only drawing, we can't be any but proud of the girls. To battle with 10 and then 9 players for 3/4 of the game is a massive credit to them.

Coaches POTM : AMEILA ๐Ÿ† - What an end of the season this girl is having. Once again brought so much energy and fight to the team and on top of that scored 2 goals, the 2nd being a lovely goal.

Parents POTM: MILLIE ๐Ÿ† - With our lack of numbers today her role as a defensive midfielder was key today. Once again she put in such a disciplined performance and when on the ball showed her quality, especially her assist for our 3rd.

Manager match report:

Ruskin Park Roses vs Bunbury Youth

A quick turnaround after facing Bunbury away only 2 weeks ago, but the girls have been in good form of late and were looking to make it 4 wins on the bounce.

Just the bare 11 players today but the girls started well on top. Twice we created good chances for Libby in the early stages but she just couldn't quite get her finish right but both times made brilliant runs to get through. Against the run of play and on the break Bunbury took the lead, 1st of all Megan made a cracking save but Bunbury did well to recycle the ball and create another chance that they took very well. Amelia took a clever quick throw and Libby got herself another chance but her shot went narrowly wide. Libby then became provider, it was her corner that found ELISE at the back post and she scooped an effort into the top corner to draw us level (cue the seal dance celebration ๐Ÿฆญ๐Ÿคฃ). It quickly became 2, this time a ball through found Isabelle who was quick to the ball and when the goal keeper collided with her and took her out the ref pointed to the spot. MERCEDES stepped up and confidently dispatched the penalty and put the Roses infront before the break. More impressively we got the 2 goals whilst being down to 10 players as one of our girls was struggling abit at the time whilst we had no subs.

Half time: Ruskin Park Roses 2-1 Bunbury

The start of the 2nd half saw the game become abit scrappy and much more even. Both teams were struggling to create chances though. Our best chance came from Isabelle who with a turn of pace drove straight through towards goal, her shot flew just wide though unfortunately. Megan in our goal was also on top form making a couple of good saves and her catching and kicking were all top notch. A few dangerous corners from Bunbury threatened an equaliser but the defence stood firm, Lexi making one particular good slide tackle in her own box. The Roses then gave them selves abit of breathing space, a Freya long throw was hurled into the box and it was a Bunbury defender who got the unfortunate touch that saw the ball just cross the line. Just as the final whistle was looming, Libby broke through, a battle for the ball as both girls niggled at each other but the ref let it go and LIBBY smashed her low shot into the bottom corner.

Full time: Ruskin Park Roses 4-1 Bunbury Youth (Elise, Mercedes, OG, Libby)

A 4th win in a row, the same as 2 weeks ago, the girls showed good character to come from behind to get the win. Quite a physical battle today but the girls stood up well to it and played with great energy.

Coaches POTM ๐Ÿ† - ISABELLE : only her 3rd game and the 1st time she's started and played a full game. She excelled, played with great energy and was brave in every tackle. Won us the penalty in the 1st half and almost scored a good goal in the 2nd half.

Parents POTM ๐Ÿ†- MERCEDES: Stood upto some physical players really well. Some really good defending and cleared her lines well when needed. Also took her penalty well to put us infront.

Witton Albion vs Ruskin Park Roses

After another good win last week the girls were looking to make it 3 on the bounce today vs a decent Witton team who we had a very good game vs earlier in the season, that game ended in a 5-4 victory.

The early stages were fairly even, both teams struggled to create much more than a half chance. Roses 1st chance fell to Hope who hit a decent long range strike, but the keepers positioning was good and she made a good stop. Both Libby and Amelia were linking well down the left, Amelia using her pace and determination on more than one occasion and kept beating her marker. She got in soon after but her shot fizzed across the goal. With around 20 minutes of the 1st half gone, we found a real bit of quality, Hope with the corner and it was a brilliant delivery that found LIBBY towards the back post and an equally good volley put us ahead. Libby then nearly added a 2nd after a strong run and a good strike that went just wide.

Half time: Witton Albion 0-1 Roses

A solid 1st half, but at times we looked abit out of position, so asked the girls to be abit more disciplined.

The girls started the 2nd half very well and kept Witton pinned back in there own half well. Again Hope tested the keeper early in the half with a good strike that took abit of a deflection that helped the keeper if anything. The Roses then extended there lead a lovely move, Amelia found HOPE on the edge of the box and she confidently beat the keeper from range. The girls were looking very dominant in the 2nd half, helped by the girls taking on board the halftime instructions perfectly. Despite being well on top, Witton were a threat on odd occasions and particularly Meg in goal who didn't have a lot to do had to stayed switched on. She did a great job at that when a deep cross found a Witton player and Meg pulled off a good save to preserve her clean sheet. The Roses finished the game really strongly creating numerous chances, Libby, Amelia and Elise all going close to adding to our lead. It was HOPE though that added her 2nd of the game, she latched onto a clearance from the keeper and another long range strike flew into the top corner. Even in the last minute or so we pushed for another, Amelia once again coming close, but she couldn't quite add the goal her performance deserved.

Full time: Witton Albion 0-3 Ruskin Park Roses

A really good performance today, particularly the 2nd half after taking on the coaches advice. Same as last week 3 high quality goals, a lovely volley by Libby and 2 long range shots by Hope. It was silent sidelines today also and the girls did a super job in communicating with each other, Mercedes massively stood out in this aspect always talking to her team mates and encouraging others. Big shout out to Megan who got her 5th clean sheet of the season, which beats our record for clean sheets.

Coaches POTM ๐Ÿ† : SOPHIE - Very energetic in the midfield. Won the ball back for us constantly. When she had the ball she was very composed and 9 times out of 10 found the right pass.

Parents POTM ๐Ÿ†: FREYA - A typical dominant defensive performance by Freya. She covered other positions very well today, and spotted danger well. As always her throws were a weapon and caused Witton alot of problems.
