Geeking out while the boys watch football 🤓
I spend time every week keeping up with new science behind movement and the body.
Today’s reminder where you feel back pain may not be where the issue is. We compensate in our movement. Lower back pain is so common, the lumbar/lower spine maybe over recruiting for another area that doesn’t move freely because the lumbar has the greatest degree of movement.
Imagine you are playing golf and you want to twist/rotate to your maximum range to get the best swing. If your upper spine/thoracic mobility is not moving freely then the lower spine/lumbar will have to compensate, this can be where injuries occur.
It’s so important to look at the full body and its movement patterns.
Yet again a study, proving after just one Pilates class, helped free up movement in areas that are stuck, taking pressure out of the areas that have to compensate. 😍
