Colwyn Bowmen

Colwyn Bowmen Target Archery club of Colwyn Bay Colwyn Bowmen are a target archery club. We have both indoor and outdoor ranges at Rydal Penrhos School. A . A. Q.

indoors is on Monday evenings from 7pm to 10pm for members. We run Taster sessions, Start Archery Courses and Range Returner Programmes, check our website for details. FAQs
Q Will I have to complete a Start Archery Course? If you're new to archery then you do need to complete a Start Archery Course, but whether you're an experienced archer or a novice, providing that you can demonstrate that you c

an shoot safely unsupervised and you're a member of Archery GB (UK's archery governing body) then you can shoot with Colwyn Bowmen. All equipment you will need will be provided for the course

Q. What could be the cost of taking up archery? All prices are provided on our website. Would I have to purchase my own equipment and how much would it cost? The club has equipment that a new member may use for the duration of a beginners course. Once you have completed the beginners course, you would be expected to purchase your own kit within a reasonable timeframe. Alternatively, complete second hand kits often become available within the club for as little as £150. We can of course assist you in kit selection & suggest suitable suppliers. We do have a limited amount of bows you can train with.

Could be another batch of new club members after their first experience of “shooting arrows” last night as part of “Start Archery Week 2026”?
Obviously a bit more to the sport than just that, but everyone’s enthusiasm and feedback was very positive.
Well done all and thanks for giving archery a go with Colwyn Bowmen

A very enjoyable session in nice warm weather yesterday.
Notable first outdoor 252 Award achievements were:
Gethin Hughes(U19) @ 10yrd and 20yrd
Hollie Jenkins (U19) @ 10yrds
Izzy Robinson (U19) @ 10yrds
Vicky Ashworth @ 20yrds and 30yrds
John Fairhurst @ 20yrds
Jonathan Harrison @ 20yrds
Ian Thomas @ 20yrds
(All witnessed scores)
The 252 awards are a bit of focused fun but also a way to improve your performance at gradually increasing distances (starting at 20yrds for seniors which is why Ian and I are on “the list” too).
We plan to award the achievement badges towards end of summer so plenty of time for everyone to challenge themselves, score a few rounds and see what distances you can achieve!?

A few pics from today's visit to Pendragon Field Archery. The backstops were put to good use, it was a great experience and very different to target shooting! Safe to say we all had a fantastic time, thanks to Pendragon 👌

Prepping new flourescent, LED-nocked “flaming arrows” ahead of a trip around the woods.
Pretty sci-fi-like but if they aid recovery on a woodland 3D/field archery range then go for it!🔥🏹🤩

🏹 It’s Been a Busy Two Weeks for Colwyn Bay Bowmen! 🏹

What a fantastic and action-packed couple of weeks it’s been!

On Saturday 7th February, several of our archers travelled to Upton to take part in the Chester Indoor Competition.

🥈 Hollie came 2nd in her u14 category

🧀 Olivia, Ian, Sam & Hollie all collected “Cheshire Cheese” progress badges – a fantastic achievement!

But that’s not all!

Last Sunday the team travelled to Deeside to take part in the Corus hosted by Deeside Archery Club in the Single Portsmouth and Double Portsmouth 2026 competitions. Not only were there some brilliant performances on the day, but these results also counted towards the North Wales Archery Society (NWAS) end of year competition – a great achievement all round!

🌟 Special mentions go to:
🥇 Sam – amazing work with two first place finishes!
🏅 Ian – fantastic shooting to secure two medals!
🥈 Iwan – well done on your second place award!
🥈🥈 Hollie – brilliant performance earning two second places!
🥇🥈 Vicky – outstanding shooting with a first and a second place!

We’re incredibly proud of everyone who has represented the club over the past two weeks.

👏 🎯
