⭐ SUPERSTAR STUDENTS ⭐

A huge well done to two of our fantastic students, Bogi and Muhammad, who were recently awarded our Superstar Student Certificates! 👏🥋

Bogi, one of our Junior students, earned her award after showing incredible courage and confidence by attending our Mixed Age Family Class for the very first time. Stepping into a new class environment can feel like a big challenge for any child, but Bogi handled it brilliantly. Not only did she settle in well, she also impressed everyone with her excellent kicking skills and positive attitude throughout the session. Bogi will soon be taking the exciting next step of moving up into our Cadets class, and we are incredibly proud of how much she continues to grow in confidence each week. 🌟

Muhammad received his award for the outstanding focus and concentration he demonstrated during training last week. Muhammad trains in both our Cadets class and our Mixed Age Family Class and always brings a fantastic attitude to his martial arts journey. Like many students, he sometimes finds certain aspects challenging, but what stands out every single week is his determination and commitment. One thing we love to see is Muhammad practising his kata during warm ups before class has even started. That dedication and willingness to improve is exactly what martial arts is all about. 💪

Well done to you both. Keep working hard, believing in yourselves, and enjoying the journey. Your CWRK family is very proud of you both! 🔥🥋

When a Belt Is Truly Earned

Some time ago, a student named Teresa walked into the dojo.

She explained that she had trained elsewhere and had previously reached Purple Belt in Wado Ryu.

That’s a significant level.

So we began training.

Very quickly, something became clear.

Not to criticise.
Not to embarrass.
Just to acknowledge reality.

The grade she had been awarded didn’t match the skills expected at that level.

She struggled with techniques and kata that should have been familiar.

That wasn’t her fault.

Sometimes students are moved forward too quickly, often with the best intentions, but without the standards that give a belt its meaning.

After her first lesson, we spoke honestly.

She recognised it immediately.

And then she made a decision that takes real courage.

She chose to start again from the very beginning.

No shortcuts.
No pretending.
No borrowed belts.

Just honest progress.

Since then, Teresa has trained consistently, step by step, rebuilding her skills properly.

Learning each technique.
Understanding each movement.
Earning each level.

And recently, Teresa graded for Purple Belt again.

This time, she met every requirement.

Every technique.
Every combination.
Every kata.

She passed with flying colours.

Not because it was given.

Because it was earned.

That’s what martial arts should be.

Not about collecting belts.

About becoming the person who deserves to wear them.

Some belts are worn.
Others are earned.
Teresa chose to earn hers.

PARENTS

One of the most rewarding moments in the dojo is watching a child who arrived feeling shy slowly begin to find their confidence.

At first they stand quietly at the back, watching carefully.

A few weeks later they begin to step forward, their voice becomes stronger, and they start encouraging the students around them.

Karate is not just about learning techniques.

It is about belonging to a community where every student is supported to grow in their own way.
