Essex Flames Cheerleading Squad

The cheerleading and dance team of the University of Essex. We also cheer for the Essex Blades American Football Team.

The Essex Flames Cheerleading Squad compete at a National and International level and over the years, have been awarded many first place titles in both Stunt and Dance. As well as being a competitive squad, we have weekly themed socials which help us get to know each other and are lots of fun. It doesn’t matter whether or not you’re a fresher, everyone is welcome to come along and give cheerleading a go! No experience is needed in joining the squad; you will be taught all the skills you need. If you are already an experienced cheerleader or gymnast, there are try outs for our higher level squads. Please feel free to come along to our come-and-try session or visit our stall during the Freshers Fair! We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about cheerleading as a sport or the club specifically. TWITTER -

What’s the difference between STUNT and DANCE teams.

At Essex Flames we offer many teams for all abilities. We have 2 competing stunt teams Blaze - Level 1 and Inferno - Level 2. We also have a game day team Ignite.
We have two competing dance teams Lyrical and Pom.
