๐โฝ๏ธ THE CAUSE ๐โฝ๏ธ
Gaigeโs Story โค๏ธ
It all started with what we thought was just a small lump on Gaigeโs head. Over time, the lump gradually started getting bigger, so we found ourselves going back and forward to the doctors for around four weeks.
We were initially told that it was a cyst, and then that it was a haematoma. Gaige was given a course of antibiotics, and ultimately we were told that we could be waiting up to six weeks for an ultrasound.
But then Gaige had a really bad night. His head was hurting him and he was extremely uncomfortable. As a mum, I just had that feeling that enough was enough. I decided to take him to Colchester Hospital because I knew something wasnโt right.
From there, he was referred to the plastics team in Chelmsford. Thankfully, they decided they wanted to investigate things further and arranged for blood tests and a CT scan.
The CT scan was carried out back at Colchester Hospital, and thatโs when everything changed.
The scan showed a 10cm mass on Gaigeโs chest.
We were then referred down to UCLH in London, where, after further tests and investigations, Gaige was diagnosed with high-grade B-cell lymphoma.
As a family, we have been through an incredibly difficult and frightening time since that diagnosis. We have remained in London while Gaige undergoes his chemotherapy, and although there have been some incredibly hard days, we are so thankful that his treatment is working. โค๏ธ
Gaige has shown so much strength and courage throughout everything he has been through. He has faced something that no child should ever have to face, yet he continues to amaze us every single day.
We are now taking each day as it comes, staying positive and focusing on getting Gaige through his treatment and back to being the happy, healthy boy we all know and love.
Our boy is a fighter. โค๏ธ๐๏ธ
