Weight training is VITAL regardless of age but it is absolutely indispensable if you are 40 Plus.
Cardio is essential too!!!!!!!! I hear more and more that 'DONT DO CARDIO' that has no benefits.
Firstly, cardio strengthens the heart and lowers the bad cholesterol (LDL) while increasing good cholesterol (HDL). Therefore, it lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes. Also, it releases endorphins ( your happiness hormones) so helps reduce anxiety and depression. If you combine cardio with resistance training such as Spinning that's even better.
IT HELPS BUILD LEAN MUSCLE MASS RATHER THAN JUST DOING CARDIO. ❤️❤️❤️
Secondly, weight training is essential because after 30 we lose muscle mass, bone density and metabolism declines. ( For example, due to menopause) .
Muscles also BURN MORE CALORIES THAN FAT!! Bear this in mind. This is because the muscle tissue is more metabolically active, so it requires more energy to maintain its structure. So lifting weights is totally worth it 💪
For women, working with weights helps combat metabolic slow down due to loss of estrogen. Also, regular resistance training improves how your muscles use blood sugar. 🙏
In essence, we need a variety of approaches.
