⚽ Scintillating Start for Panthers U14s!
Chesterfield Panthers U14s started their new season in scintillating fashion, producing an excellent all-round performance to comfortably overcome Wingerworth Dragons U14s 5–0 at Chesterfield Panthers FC in glorious sunshine.
The lads were asked before kick-off to start the game at a high tempo, and they certainly delivered. Panthers came flying out of the blocks and took just six minutes to open the scoring.
Isaac spotted Henry’s run and played a perfectly weighted ball through for Henry to run onto. Showing great composure, Henry confidently finished into the net to give Panthers the perfect start. 1–0!
Just two minutes later, Panthers doubled their advantage. Noah delivered a wicked corner into a dangerous area, causing absolute chaos in the Wingerworth box. Archie A’s poked attempt was heading towards goal before a Wingerworth defender inadvertently got the final touch, turning the ball into his own net. 2–0!
Panthers continued to control proceedings for the remainder of the half, with the defence looking solid and the midfield working tirelessly to keep Wingerworth at bay.
On the rare occasions Wingerworth threatened, Archie B was on hand to deal with the danger. He produced an excellent save to tip a speculative free kick over the bar, ensuring Panthers went into half-time with their two-goal advantage intact.
🔥 Second-Half Masterclass
The message at half-time was simple: raise the level again.
And once again, the lads responded brilliantly.
Panthers continued to play with intensity and purpose, moving the ball quickly and creating chances.
In the 43rd minute, Ruben unleashed a shot from distance which the Wingerworth goalkeeper could only parry away. Leyton had followed the play brilliantly and was on hand at the back post to calmly tuck the rebound away. 3–0!
Panthers weren’t finished there.
Six minutes later, some quick and neat passing created another opening. Nathan found Isaac, who cut inside before producing a moment of real quality, curling a superb effort into the top corner beyond the reach of the keeper. 4–0!
The fifth and final goal arrived in the 61st minute, and it was another fantastic team move.
Intricate passing allowed Panthers to work the ball into the final third, with Noah showing great awareness and an unselfish attitude to play the ball across the area from the left. Henry was there to meet it and produced a lovely finish with the outside of his foot, the ball creeping underneath the keeper’s dive. 5–0!
Despite Panthers’ dominance and an extremely solid defensive display, Archie B was still called into action on several occasions during the second half. He once again rose to the challenge, making a number of excellent saves to ensure Panthers’ clean sheet remained intact.
The final whistle confirmed a thoroughly deserved 5–0 victory and a fantastic start to the new U14 season.

🏆 Referee’s Player – Archie B
A faultless performance between the sticks. Archie didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon, combining excellent distribution with a number of superb saves when called upon. His contribution was crucial in keeping the clean sheet intact.
🏆 Manager’s Player – Archie A
A tenacious performance in central midfield. Archie repeatedly won the ball back, won his duels and gave Wingerworth very little time or space to play. His clever, simple passing and distribution helped Panthers control the game from midfield.
👏 Overall
An all-round superb performance from every player.
From the very first whistle, Panthers played with energy, confidence and purpose. Five goals, a clean sheet, excellent teamwork and some fantastic individual moments made for the perfect way to start the season.
