Meet Kirit 💙

At 74 years old, Kirit joins us every Monday at Shi Kon for Pilates and it’s about so much more than exercise.

For Kirit, Pilates is a chance to move his body, connect with his mind, enjoy a regular routine, share some laughs, and be part of a supportive community. Watching him show up week after week is a reminder that movement has no age limit.

Pilates is for everybody, every age, every gender, every ability. Whether you’re looking to build strength, improve mobility, meet new people, or simply carve out some time for yourself, there’s a place for you on the mat.

Wholesome Wednesday ☀️

Slept for a full 9 hours, enjoyed some quality time taking my grandad out for lunch, then I will be ending the day at my black belt class 🥋

I know I’ve been a little quiet on here lately. Losing my Nan so suddenly in January really shook me. I’ve been trying to find my way through the grief, and it hasn’t been easy. This is the first big loss I’ve faced as an adult, and it’s changed me in ways I’m still learning to understand.

I’m so grateful for my students, my friends and my family for all the love, patience and support you’ve given me. You’ve truly helped keep me going through it all 🤍

Lately I’ve been realising just how important it is to slow down and look after myself, inside and out. Prioritising my wellbeing, embracing change, (yes even the new hair colour 💇‍♀️) and learning to take each day as it comes 🌄

2025 has been huge for me 🤍

I closed the chapter on my 9–5 as an independent domestic abuse & sexual violence advisor, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but I knew in my heart my time there had come and a new chapter was calling.

This year I qualified as a Level 2 Gym Instructor, Level 3 Mat Pilates & Reformer instructor, achieved my 2nd Dan black belt. I continued teaching ladies-only kickboxing while taking over the classes full time, and assisting/instructing kids and adults in martial arts. Watching my Pilates classes grow has been incredibly humbling — I’m beyond grateful to everyone who’s shown up and trusted me.

Alongside all of this, I’ve navigated life with endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS. There have been tough days, painful days, and moments that really tested me — but they haven’t stopped me, and they never will. If anything, living with chronic illness has strengthened my purpose and allows me to support and understand other women walking a similar path.

I’m so thankful for my supportive family and friends, I really could not have done it without you all.

It’s been busy, emotional, empowering, exhausting, but such a rewarding year. I’m proud of how far I’ve come… and I cannot wait to see what 2026 brings ✨💪

Still smiling after such an incredible night 🖤❤️

Shi Kons’s 50th anniversary fundraising event was truly unforgettable. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, it was so special seeing so many of our students together.

I’m absolutely over the moon that we have raised enough for a defib and new mats for our Dojo. Thank you to everyone who also donated - every bit of support helped make this possible 🥋

A massive shout out to my parents: my mum, who works tirelessly behind the scenes, and my dad, our Sensei, who gives his heart to Shi Kon every single day.

And to my grandparents, the founders of Shi Kon Martial Arts, none of this would exist without you. I’m so honoured to have trained and learned under both of you.

What an amazing event, and what an incredible community. Grateful beyond words 🙏✨
