Women & Girls Changing Rooms — Officially Open! 🎉🏏
On Saturday 8th August, we held the opening ceremony for our brand-new Women & Girls changing rooms and what an occasion it was! 💜
It was a fantastic evening with 150+ guests, including so many of the people who have helped make this project possible, our donors, supporters, sponsors, tradespeople, players, families and friends and soo many more individuals and businesses. We simply cannot thank every single one of you enough for your incredible support.
To officially open the changing rooms, we were honoured to invite Janet Ward, wife of our past president Rodney Ward 🩵 , and Emma Atkins to do the honours. They did a beautiful job, and we are so grateful to you both for making the effort to come along and celebrate this special occasion with us. ✂️🎀
This is a huge step forward for our club and for women and girls in cricket. Being able to provide a safe, dedicated space for our own and visiting Women & Girls playing in mixed-gender teams is an absolute game changer. We’re sure every W&G player who has used the facilities this season can vouch for that!
We hope that by taking this step, we can inspire more clubs across our league to do the same and help create safe, welcoming spaces for women and girls to get changed. The women’s and girls’ game continues to grow, with more and more players taking part, particularly across the Westmorland League 🏏
The new changing rooms will also benefit under-18s (boys and girls) playing in senior teams, and they help us meet the latest ECB guidance around enclosed shower facilities for U18’s, which our current home and away changing rooms do not comply with.
We’re so excited to finally share some photos of the finished project, so everyone who couldn’t make the evening can see what an amazing job has been done by everyone involved. 📸 we especially love the cricket bat hangers! Cheers Watty and Melissa for all the hours you put in making our ideas come to life 😍
And to think that in under two years we have completed the works and raised an incredible £72,812! 🤯👏
These are such exciting times for our club, with so much more to look forward to. What we are achieving at the club right now is genuinely incredible and for a small village club, it is absolutely something worth celebrating. And on Saturday, that’s exactly what we did! 🥂

And, most importantly, a massive thank you to Simon and Tash, who instigated and led this entire project from start to finish. We genuinely don’t know how we would have managed it without you both.
This project has shown what can be achieved when a club, a community and a group of incredible people all pull together.
