How hard should a club run feel? For most ordinary social or steady runs, the answer is controlled enough that you can talk to the people around you. You should feel that you are running, but not racing to keep your place in the group. There are exceptions. Track sessions, hill repetitions and other structured […]

A hilly start and a tough evening on Dartmoor for Janet! πŸ’›πŸ’™

She took on the Haytor Heller in perfect weather, tackling approximately six miles of steep climbs and rugged off-road terrain.

The event was wonderfully organised as always by Teignbridge Trotters, with a well-earned barbecue and cakes waiting afterwards.

Well done, Janet!

Janet represented Carn Runners at the hilly Haytor Heller on Dartmoor, enjoying perfect weather, a tough off-road course and post-race cake.

We had 12 runners take on the warm weather and a genuinely hilly seven-mile course.

Huge congratulations to Kerry, Sally and Tommy on their age-category prizes. Vice Captain James was our first Carn male home, with Nick close behind, while Elena led the Carn ladies home ahead of Kerry.

Special mentions also go to Sally for racing so well despite a little lingering jet lag, and to Wayne for stepping up his mileage and clearly having a brilliant time on the course.

Well done to the whole team!

Carn Runners fielded a 12-strong team at the hilly Treggy 7, with age-category prizes for Kerry, Sally and Tommy in warm conditions.

Jan and Sarah both completed Saturday’s 5K trail race, with Jan finishing first in her age group and Sarah taking second. Sarah also tackled the 2.5K swim.

On Sunday, Jan placed first in her age group in the standard-distance triathlon, while Sarah supported the event as a marshal.

Brutal climbs, biblical rain and plenty of camping fun β€” congratulations both! πŸ’›πŸ’™

Team Birds 200 have completed another fantastic Tallinn adventure! πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ͺ

Laura tackled the 1,900m swim, Jan braved a wet and windy 56-mile bike leg, and Caroline completed the half marathon to bring the team home in 23rd place. Sarah kept everything running smoothly as team manager β€” helped by a hotel with a free afternoon chocolate buffet!

The group also joined 1,500 runners for the 5K Sunset Run, where Caroline earned an age-category podium and Jan missed hers by just one place.

Carnies on Tour πŸ’›πŸ’™
The Webbs swapped parkrun for a 7.5k race entirely on sand, complete with a great atmosphere and a €10 entry fee that included a T-shirt.

Meanwhile, James unexpectedly bumped into fellow Carn Runner Tori at Pitchcroft parkrun in Worcesterβ€”neither knew the other would be there!

Another brilliant evening of racing for Carn Runners, with Jan, Sally, Steve P and Tori taking on the tough St Ives Bay 10K.

This one is definitely not your average 10K, with beach, dunes and the infamous Dune of Doom all waiting along the way!

And there was plenty to celebrate at the finish:

πŸ₯‡ Jan – 1st in age category
πŸ₯ˆ Sally – 2nd in age category
πŸ‘ Tori – a fantastic 4th, narrowly missing the podium

A huge well done to Steve too for another strong run in the Carn colours.

Brilliant racing from all four! πŸ’™πŸ’›

What a night for Carn Runners!

We had a huge contingent out for the Sticker 5, with some fantastic individual results and another brilliant team performance.

πŸ₯‡ Tommy – 1st in age category
πŸ₯‰ Glynn – 3rd
πŸ₯ˆ Kerry – 2nd
πŸ₯‰ Olivia – 3rd
πŸ₯‰ Sally – 3rd

Tonia narrowly missed the podium in 4th, Elena ran a superb 5th in a very competitive category, while James and Nick also produced strong results.

And our women’s team did it again, finishing an excellent 4th overall – just 11 points away from 3rd! πŸ‘

Podiums or not, a huge well done to every Carnie who took on those undulating Sticker lanes. Another fantastic club night out.
