Because it’s been raining over night lately and some of the ponies were shaking I put a few rain sheets on the ones who needed them. The grass in the other paddocks is now an inch or two long so won’t be long until I switch paddocks. I plan to keep them off the bit I want to use for most of the winter for at least another month but if I can get away with longer I will try.

Happy ponies.

With a giant haynet in the box it makes life much easier, the hay won’t blow away and it slows them down a bit!

The big ones are happy with the hay ring and I can roll them a bale in now and then. I won’t put the little ones in with the hay ring now as Peanut got his head stuck in the ring feed feeder and he scared himself and I nearly got took out by Merlin bolting away from it.

Thank you to Hannah and Roy for picking up my hay box for the babies yesterday they seem happy sharing it ❤️

💔 RIP DOLLY PARTON, 1946–2026

There are plenty of reasons for horse lovers to have had a soft spot for Dolly Parton.

Growing up poor in East Tennessee, Dolly wanted a pony more than almost anything.

She once told the wonderful story of an uncle convincing her that she could actually grow her own pony by planting “pony seeds”.

So, as only a hopeful little girl could, she buried horse manure in the ground, watered it carefully... and waited.

No pony ever appeared. But the love of horses never quite left her.

And perhaps one of the best descriptions Dolly ever gave of herself also came straight from the horse world:

“I may look like a show pony, but I’m a workhorse.”

Pony dreams, workhorse spirit and a heart every bit as big as her personality.

Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️🐴

I love these lot so much. It’s been a bit stressful with the lack of rain ruining our grazing but it’s slowly getting some colour and hopefully it will start growing again now the weather is cooling down so hopefully it won’t take too long to recover.

My life right now feels so good. I have a wonderful job that I love so much. The people and my fellow staff are so wonderful and we all work together for the welfare of the people we care for, I feel like I’m doing something worthwhile and not having to proof my worth all of the time. All I do is be myself and do my work and I feel like it’s home. I wish I’d found this job years ago. It also makes looking after the horses so much easy, financially and time-wise, this winter will be the easiest ever, just because I have a good job again!

Dave and I have started going to live music gigs too because we have never done it before. I’ve done arena gigs but not the smaller local ones and the one we went to on Friday was so much fun!

I really feel like we have everything, our ducks are not just in a row, they are dancing and singing with it!
