Mum, Steve and I would like to thank everyone for the many kind messages of sympathy and support following Dad's passing. It has brought us great comfort to hear so many wonderful memories and to know how well liked and respected he was.

Dad's funeral will be held on Monday 10th August 2026 at 1:00pm at All Saints Church, followed by the committal at Bromsgrove Old Cemetery.

Afterwards, we will be holding a wake to celebrate Dad's life. The venue is yet to be confirmed, so further details will be shared as soon as possible.

Family flowers only, please.

If you wish to make a donation in Dad's memory, donations to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity would be greatly appreciated.

It is with great sadness that I share the news that my wonderful Dad, Mick James, passed away peacefully last night.

He touched the lives of so many, both professionally and personally and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rest peacefully, Dad. You will always be loved, never forgotten, and forever in our hearts. ❤️

I will share the funeral arrangements on here in due course, for anyone who would like to attend.

I'd like to thank all of you who attended Mum & Dads' dances for helping to make so many happy memories, which I know will help Mum through this difficult time.

Unfortunately, as we've been unable to find a suitable venue to hold our dances in Bromsgrove, with great sadness, we've decided to hang up our dancing shoes.

Thank you for supporting The Phoenix Dance Club over the many years that we've been running.

***Latest News***

We are really sorry to have to inform you that Bromsgrove District Council have decided to cancel all of our dances scheduled to be held in their function room at Parkside, for the rest of 2021.

Their decision is due to the measures they've had to impose because of Covid, to keep people safe.

The Phoenix Dance Club doesn't fit with their decision to restrict the number of people allowed in the room to just 15, all seated 2 metres apart.

This leaves us with no option but to search for another venue to hold our dances.

We will keep you posted if we find somewhere suitable and when we might be able to restart the dances.

Hi everyone

We hope you are all keeping well.

Sorry we haven't posted for a while, but we've been concentrating on Thelma's recovery from her hip replacement.

She's doing really well and working hard to complete the exercises her Physiotherapist has set for her.

We had hoped that we could be holding our first dance since Covid next month, but unfortunately Bromsgrove District Council are still not allowing groups to use the room at Parkside, so we've had to cancel the 2nd October dance.

We're hoping that the situation will change in the near future and we'll keep you posted about when the Council will allow us to open the doors to our dance club again.

Hello,

Sorry we haven't posted anything for a while. As we're sure you realise, we are still unable to say when it will be safe to welcome you all back to the Phoenix Dance Club. Hopefully, things will become clearer once restrictions are lifted on 19 July.

In other news, we're thrilled to tell you that Thelma finally had a hip replacement operation on 14 June and is doing well. It's still early days, but things are looking good and she can't wait for the day when she can take to the dance floor again.

Stay safe and we'll hopefully see you all again very soon.

Coronavirus update:

We're sure it will be no surprise to you that we've had to cancel our Christmas and New Year's Eve dances this year, due to the ongoing Covid19 restrictions.

However, we are hoping (with fingers and toes crossed) that we could be running the dances again by Easter.

So, as we won't be able to see you in person, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Stay safe and well and we'll look forward to seeing you in 2021.

Coronavirus Update:

As expected, we've had to cancel our November dances, which were due to be held on the 7th and 21st.

At least we have Strictly to watch on a Saturday evening now.
