T1 Rugby Bicester Rugby Union Football Club
Celebrating five years of Bicester Rugby’s mixed adult non-contact!


On Monday evening (1st June 2026) Bicester Rugby Club’s T1 Rugby squad embraced the cooling light rain and continued their weekly fitness run about, executing dynamic running lines, dazzling ball handling skills and scoring thrilling tries. Then afterwards, enjoyed a social drink in ‘The Kitchen & Bar at Whitelands’ to mark having played non-contact Rugby Union at Whiteland’s Sports Ground for the last five years.

Craig Morley - founder of Bicester RFC's Mixed Adult non-contact offer:

"We started touch rugby at Bicester RUFC five years ago, initially supported by seed funding from Cherwell District Council. We were also proud to be the first club to adopt T1 Rugby after a successful trial.
We play all year round – only breaking for major holidays – and regularly attract great numbers. It is the perfect way to keep playing when your body no longer fancies the full-contact game, but it has also proven a brilliant gateway for complete beginners. Our players range from veterans and current contact players to total newcomers. It has built skills, boosted fitness, and created a fantastic, welcoming team spirit where enjoyment is the ultimate goal."

Richard Havers - member:
"5 years of Bicester [non-contact] rugby has massively improved my health and fitness, and gets me out of the house regularly away from the wife and kids. Long may it continue…


Jack Murphy - member:
"[Non-contact] rugby has allowed me to take my game to the next level. The likeness to contact and free flowing game has helped me in game situations, fitness and also socially.

Paul Radford - member:
"This has probably been the longest I've ever played at the same rugby club! Five years of laughs, run outs, great fun with a like-minded bunch of people, and keeping fit. Long may it continue."

📣 February & March Volunteer of the months 📣

🦊 February 2026 - Dan Jones

Dan is the team manager for the u15/14’s, he is an amazing person who does all the work behind the scenes. From arranging fixtures throughout the season to making sure all the tables and chairs are out on a match day, to washing the muddy shirts every game, as well as making sure Spond is up to date, no matter where and at what time they are due to the weather and other factors. He is the heartbeat of the age group and the coaching team and parents agree we would struggle to have everything so organised if it wasn’t for Dan.

🦊 March 2026 - Gary Kruger & David MacDonald

Gary Kruger and David MacDonald are long‑standing BRUFC members whose dedication as players and coaches has had a transformative impact on the club’s U16s. David, with over 22 years as a player, still leads by example on the pitch, passing on his passion for rugby to those he coaches. Gary, the club’s training lead, is deeply committed to youth development, continually improving his coaching skills to give players the best possible support.

Together, they have grown the squad from 14 to 28 players, many new to rugby, fostering confidence, discipline and teamwork. Their coaching led to a league title and an upcoming international tournament in Malta, achieved through tireless fundraising. Parents praise them as true unsung heroes who develop not just better players, but better young men.

Thank you, Gary and David for your commitment and support, and congratulations on being our volunteers of the month for March 2026!
