Another superb day on the water as we headed to the beautiful River Roe for our latest recreational paddle, launching from Swans Bridge. With the sun shining and spectacular views throughout the day, it was a great opportunity to enjoy one of Northern Ireland's most scenic rivers.

Despite a breezy day, the banks provided plenty of shelter as the group paddled upstream before turning around and enjoying an easy run back downstream. A relaxing lunch stop on the riverbank gave everyone the chance to refuel and take in the stunning surroundings beneath the impressive cliffs of Binevenagh.

As well as enjoying the scenery and good company, several participants took the opportunity to work on a few tips and tricks to improve their paddling, benefiting from the knowledge and experience of our leaders along the way.

With sunshine, spectacular scenery, skill development and plenty of chat and laughter, it was another fantastic day out on the water. We look forward to seeing everyone again on the next adventure!

Our next Recreational Paddle will be taking place on the River Bann, Cusher and Newry Canal on Saturday 27th June 2026. Please click here to book -https://cani.justgo.com/workbench/public/events?ref=993157E25C99B24092CE4AB08A6B19A9D0E06780

🚣‍♂️Help Shape the Future of Paddling

Paddle UK is currently developing its new UK‑wide strategy, and as a National Association, Paddle NI is supporting this process by hosting an in‑person engagement session for the Northern Ireland paddling community.

This session will be led by Ashley Metcalfe, CEO of Paddle UK, and Ashley Hunter, Paddle UK Board Member representing Northern Ireland, with members of the Paddle NI Board also in attendance. This is an important opportunity for clubs, members, volunteers and delivery partners to contribute directly to the shaping of the next Paddle UK strategy.

Paddle UK is keen to hear from everyone involved in paddling from clubs, coaches and centres to recreational paddlers and those who may return to the sport in future. At the heart of this engagement is a simple question: what should Paddle UK focus on to best support paddlers and the places we paddle?

Key details
Date & Time: Wednesday 1st July, 7.00pm – 9.00pm
Location: Chestnut Suite, Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, Co. Antrim, BT27 4RL
