A great day for our annual Danderball tournament with Avoniel & NIWFF. It gets bigger and better every year and is always a great way for men to learn about health and wellbeing providers available to them! Thanks to all who made today a success🙂

𝐼𝑛 𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑, 𝑅𝑜𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑡 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑒𝑟 ⚽💙

Four years ago, we shared this video celebrating the launch of our Larne 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭 programme, the third Walking Football site established by Community Sports Network.

What started almost 10 years ago at Avoniel has since grown to include programmes in Shankill, Larne and most recently Lough Moss, in partnership with Carryduff Swifts Walking Football & Be Active Stay Active Lisburn Castlereagh

Today, nearly 100 participants are registered across our four sites. Many of our Larne participants have even gone on to establish CALA Walking Football Club, creating even more opportunities for older men to stay active and connected.

This Friday, as part of Men's Health Week and our #𝟮𝟬𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗢𝗳𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 celebrations, we'll welcome teams to Avoniel Leisure Centre for our annual Danderball Tournament, with seven teams representing CSN sites.

Proud to have participants from our Danderball sites presented with their official Northern Ireland Caps by the The Irish Football Association's Conrad Kirkwood at the national stadium.
A number of the lads also represented NI against the home nations this weekend👏⚽

Thank you to our former employee and now Larne Football Club Manager, Gary Haveron for taking the time to call in with the Irish League Gibson Cup this afternoon. He also stopped off at our Avoniel Danderball site to catch up and get a few photos with the lads there.

Big thank you to Springfield Star FC for the use of their pitch for a few weeks whilst our Shankill Danderball Group were unable to use the Leisure Centre. The facility was a perfect substitute for our weekly sessions! ⚽

UPDATE 20.5.26 📢 Summer Scheme Update: Spaces Available
Verification/checks have now taken place and a small number of summer scheme spaces have become available in cases where there has been double-booking.
👉These spaces will be bookable at 12noon on Wednesday 20 May 2026.

Tickets are only available for one week per child. Parents/Guardians should not book more than one week regardless of location: any additional bookings will be cancelled and refunded.
Please note, there are NO spaces in Alderman George Green or Donaghadee. All other summer scheme locations have a small number of spaces available

Cost £25 per week, and £12.50 for concession (Children in receipt of free school meals).

This year's Community Development summer schemes will be delivered by Active Youth NI and Community Sports Network.

50 families provided with the ingredients, recipe cards and online cooking tutorials each week. Bringing them closer together as a family and learning new skills in the process😄
