Everyone at Belfast Phoenix Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend, teammate, and club member Paul McCullagh.

Paul was truly a larger-than-life character, a gentle giant and will be missed by all in our club. Always good-natured, trained like the professional that he was and always ready to step in when we were stuck. Always the voice of positivity and reason. He left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, both on and off the pitch as seen with the outpouring of respect across the boxing and wider community.

Paul you will be sorely missed ❤️

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, including club founder and player manager Seamus O’Donnell, Paul’s family, friends, teammates and all who loved him at this incredibly difficult time.

A solid pre-season run-out for the lads.

Plenty of positives to take away from today’s performance. Conall Hanna opened the scoring with a well-taken finish, while Kevin McKay added a classy brace to keep us in the game.

Great to see plenty of players returning to the club — a real boost ahead of the new season.
