🏊‍♀️💙 Our first week back is complete! 💙🏊‍♂️

What a fantastic first week we’ve had! It’s been lovely welcoming everyone back to the pool, and a big welcome to all our new swimmers joining us this term. 🌊😊

We know that starting swimming lessons can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially when everything is new—the pool, the teacher, the other children and a new routine.

So, we’ve put together a few simple things you can do before your child’s swimming lesson to help reduce stress and make the start of their lesson a little calmer. 💙

🎾 🏊 Skill Spotlight: Ball Skills 🏊🎾

Throwing, catching and chasing a ball in the water is much more than just a fun game!

Ball activities help children:
💙 Improve hand-eye coordination
💙 Develop balance and body control
💙 Build confidence moving around the pool
💙 Encourage swimming with one hand while using the other
💙 Learn important water safety and movement skills through play

The best part? Children are having so much fun, they don’t even realise how much they’re learning! 🌊😊

🚀 Skill Spotlight: Streamline

Our “rocket” position teaches children to keep their body long and straight. A good streamline helps them glide further through the water and makes every stroke more efficient.

Did you know? Frogs are excellent swimmers because of their powerful back legs—just like a good breaststroke kick! 🐸

Game Idea: Shark Attack 🦈🤩

Our children LOVE playing this game! One or two children wear a shark fin floaty and try and catch the other swimmers who are little fish! It’s a great game to get children moving and swimming while making it fun! 💦

⭐ Skill Spotlight: Star Float ⭐️

Floating is one of the most valuable life-saving skills. Learning to relax and float on the front and back helps children stay calm, conserve energy, and build confidence in the water.
