Bampton 1-7 Topsham
The scoreline today probably doesn’t reflect the game. We started the game well and kept the ball well, we kept Topsham at arms length and handled their threat well. Dog got us going with a good finish and we kept working hard and created chances. This is really where the story changes….there is a saying “should have gone to Specsavers” but I don’t think the man in the middle (trust me that’s where he stayed) I don’t think he would have seen where he was going. 1st Leian breaks there line and runs through on goal only to be clattered by the Topsham keeper to the absolute amazement of everyone including the Topsham management NO PENALTY AND NO RED CARD. A few minutes later Bolty runs through on goal only to be clattered by the Topsham centre back…….guess what……NO PENALTY AND NO RED CARD. So we all make mistakes I get that but these were not really mistakes that should be made once let alone twice, his explanation was that both players won the ball…….this makes me more angry and amazed due to the bloody ball going forward, unless both Topsham players decided that they would play the bloody thing back towards there own goal. The rest of it I can’t explain, concede 7 goals with the defenders playing pretty well, Topsham players saying our CB was the best player we hit the bar, hearing people saying I was the reason we were playing poorly all made for a sh*tty day. And to make it worse the ref charged £50……….fifty bloody quid I KNOW!! BEATS THE SH** OUT OF ME. Just to make people aware, the lads are decent footballers and yes I do have to take responsibility but you can’t legislate for that shocking performance from the dude who took his £50, stuffed it in his skyrocket and sodded off home. Anyway we move on to the cup semi final next week. Let’s hope the lads can move on quickly and go again.

Bampton 1-0 Uplowman
The local derby today was a cagey affair that to be honest could well have gone either way and probably on balance could have ended in a draw.
The game lacked many clear chances for both sides but both keepers made some good saves when called upon.
The deciding goal came from a through ball which Uplowman thought they had stepped out in time to catch us offside but their linesman was not up with play leaving the ref no choice but to give the goal. I couldn’t see it so couldn’t say with any certainty what was the correct call. MOTM Shaun Hitchcott and Liam Webber both having excellent performances
DOTD Billy for not telling Char we were home today
Goal Liam Short….super sub!!

Bampton FC 3-1 Kingskerswell FC
We turned up for today’s game a little surprised that it was actually on! Kingskerswell bought with them a long unbeaten run and boasted a record of scoring 126 goals and only conceding 11 this season…….who gives a rats ass about records though…certainly not us today! On 35 minutes Webber went through 1 on 1 with the keeper, coolly rounding the on rushing keeper to slot the ball in the back of the net. After the goal we had to see the 1st half out which we did. At the break we spoke about staying focused on the battle and being strong in the fight. Kingskerswell came out for the second half and clearly wanted to fight. They drew level maybe deserving their goal. We stayed strong playing some good football on a difficult surface and goals from Daniel Chalk and Callum Woodman sealed the win and took us in to the semi final. The win could/should have been more emphatic but we missed from the spot! Great performance from the whole team I asked for 100% from everyone and got 110% WHO CARES ABOUT RECORDS!!
Well done everyone top lads

Otterton 2-3 Bampton
We travelled to Otterton today to play a decent and well organised side. We knew the pitch would be heavy and sticky but both sides played some good football.
We gave up an early goal after 5 minutes which just seemed to wobble us for a few minutes but soon started to play decent stuff again. Otterton conceded a penalty which Callum stood up to take but the keeper made the save, the ref however deemed that the keeper had stepped off his line an ordered a retake. The penalty was then scored by Nick! The otters tended to opt for the long ball from the back with the wind and the slope which we dealt with well enough. Half time 1-1 which was a fair scoreline. In the 2nd half we started fairly well and forced them into conceding another stick on penalty, up steps Nick to dispatch his 2nd goal of the game. From the kick off they immediately levelled things up with a smart move and finish. Injuries forced a couple of changes and we maybe got nervous of losing the game but kept fighting. With a few minutes to go we got a good break and Nick went through the midfield hitting a shot from the edge of the box which went in for his hatrick. We played out the rest of the game to secure the 3 points.
Man of the match was shared between Nick Merriam and Liam Webber but there was a lot of really good performances out there today.
Well done lads on to Uplowman at home at the start of January

Bampton 1-1 Axmouth
(4-3 pens)
Today’s game was played in difficult conditions on a sticky pitch. We started the game well and dominated the early exchanges. Axmouth had a plan to make the game physical and played the ball over the top a lot but the back 3 dealt with the occasional threat well. We went 1-0 up after some great footwork and a great finish between Bolty and Jack Isaacs. We went in at half time 1-0 up but could have been 3.
The 2nd half started and immediately we had a great chance but dog just poked the ball wide. As the half went on I didn’t feel at any point we were in trouble but out of the blue after 3 defenders slipping trying to clear the danger they managed to poke the ball home to make the game 1-1.
Full time and the game went to penalties. Doing it the hard way we missed 2 of ours before man of the match Dog finished the sudden death penalty to get us into the next round.
Another home fixture awaits against Priory in the quarter final.

Can I make an appeal for any info from Bampton families or ex Bampton football club players relating to the clubs history please.

No matter how small or insignificant you may think it is, I’m currently in the process of piecing the clubs history together and digitally archiving it. Any info or artefacts would be greatly appreciated to look at and photograph. I'm interested in team photos, press cuttings and any other memorabilia related to the club and its history. I can be contacted via facebook or on my e mail at

Many thanks

Seaton Town 0-2 Bampton

Yesterdays game saw us make the trip to Seaton. On arrival the pitch looked amazing but with the rain we knew it may be a bit heavy under foot.

We started well and created chances the first being converted on 13 minutes by Liam Short although there is a lot of talk that it was going wide until a deflection took it past the keeper.
What followed was a little confusion! 25 minutes gone Bolty picks up the ball and drives towards goal and hits a great shot the ball hit the post and went in only for the ref to give a goal kick and rule it out saying it didn’t go in! We went again and finally on 35 minutes Bolty got his goal to make it 2-0. To be fair we maybe should have been more comfortable but the score remained 2-0
The 2nd half was a little scrappy and credit to Seaton who battled all game. Some really good performances out there today Jordan Mitchell earning the man of the match award from the Seaton sponsors, Al dog earning man of the match from our team, Billy Croker with a clean sheet and the return of Liam Webber

Bampton 4-2 Okehampton 3rd
Really good performance from the lads today. We started the game strong and looked in complete control maintaining a good shape and creating multiple chances, within the first 30 minutes we should have put the game to bed and should have been 6-0 up hitting the post 3 times and missing a few gilt edge chances. We eventually took the lead on 45 minutes when chalky found his scoring boots!
2nd half started and we still looked good and controlled the game. Okehampton managed to get a goal and had a man sent off for a last man challenge which was a stick on sending off but was still a bit of a shame. The end result was 4-2 with some cracking performances. All the lads played well, Jack Mitchell on his first start for the club played well, Jamie Wilson started and played well along with everyone working well and playing great.
Well done everyone and good luck to Okehampton for the season.
