Ours is a friendly, successful rowing club that is open to all. Want to try your hand at competing ? or simply to get fit while having fun sitting down ! We have a very strong competitive membership of Juniors, Veterans and Seniors along with casual rowers including Ladies only crews, backed by a willing team of coaches (including some world Champions !). LAST WEEKENDS UPDATE!

A slightly different weekend of racing for Cambois as the summer regatta season begins to wind down 💚🤍

On Saturday, our juniors headed to Tyne Regatta for a relaxed end-of-season day of racing. A great opportunity to enjoy some time on the water, race different combinations and round off a brilliant season 👏

On Sunday, two Cambois crews took on the Great Tyne Row, a 25km challenge along the Tyne, while also using the opportunity to raise funds for the club! 💪

🚣‍♀️ Full Steam Ahead – 10th overall
🚣‍♂️ Puffing Blades – 11th overall

Incredibly, just one second separated our two crews after more than two hours of rowing! 🔥

Last Sunday, three Cambois crews headed to Talkin Tarn for the latest round of the Sunday League, enjoying some much kinder weather and great racing conditions ☀️

🔥 Rowling Thunder – 3 wins, holding onto 1st place in the Women’s League

🔥 Splashington Dashers – 3 wins, moving up to 2nd place in the Open League

👏 The round also saw a new Cambois crew introduced into the Open event, picking up their first win!

🇬🇧 BRITISH ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 🇬🇧

Four full days of racing, scorching conditions and some of the toughest junior competition in the country. BR Champs once again showcased just how high the standard of junior rowing is, with some events having over 80 entries🔥

And our small but mighty Cambois squad delivered 💚🤍

🥇 GOLD – OpJ16 2x Harry & Sonny
🥇 GOLD – OpJ14 1x Matty

Alongside the two national titles, we also saw crews racing deep into the regatta with multiple A, B and C Final appearances across the weekend. A brilliant reflection of the strength and progress across the squad.

To top it off, Cambois finished 29th out of 169 clubs in the overall rankings and as the top Northern club 💪🔥

It was also brilliant to cheer on so many other Northern crews, catch up with old friends and make plenty of new ones!

A huge thank you to our coaches, parents and everyone supporting from the bank or following from home. Weekends like this simply wouldn’t be possible without you all 👏

🇬🇧 GB FRANCE MATCH 🇫🇷

Following their performances at the recent time trials, Harry and Sonny were selected to represent Great Britain at the GB France Match 🇬🇧💪

The boys headed to Gravelines to take on the French team on their home water. In an incredibly close race, they battled right to the line, just being pipped at the finish.

An amazing experience and a moment they'll never forget after all the hard work that has gone into getting here. First GB vests… and we're confident they won't be their last 👀🔥

Wayne and Owen also got to be part of the experience as coaches, gaining valuable experience at international level. A huge thank you to them both for their continued support and commitment 👏

An incredible achievement for Harry and Sonny and we couldn't be prouder 💚🤍

Talkin Tarn Regatta 2026 🚣‍♂️

With heavy winds forcing the cancellation of the younger junior events, it was a smaller Cambois squad that made the trip to Tarn last weekend.

Despite the conditions, there was still some strong racing across the day, with good performances from our three J16 rowers as they battled through the conditions.

The Op MasE 4x- progressed through to the final and put in a strong performance.

A special mention also goes to our women’s W MasB/C 4x- crew, racing at their first regatta together, making a fantastic start to their regatta journey and unlucky to miss out by just 2 feet 💪

Well done to everyone who travelled and raced. Not the easiest day, but plenty of positives to take from it!

🇬🇧 GB FRANCE TRIALS 🇫🇷

This weekend Harry, Sonny and Olivia headed to the National Water Sports Centre for their first experience of GB trials, competing for selection to the GB16 France Match.

With strong winds forcing a change to the racing format, the course was shortened and selection was based solely on the time trial. Tough conditions and a stacked field made for a brutal day's racing 💨🚣

All three athletes put in outstanding performances, and we're incredibly proud of how they represented the club.

An unforgettable experience and another important step on their rowing journey. Well done Harry, Sonny and Olivia!

Weekend Round-Up – Part 2

While our masters were competing at Nottingham last weekend, our juniors were in action across two days of racing at Durham Regatta 💪

The squad produced some fantastic performances, with plenty of crews progressing through to competitive finals and putting in some brilliant racing throughout the weekend.

Weekend Round-Up – Part 1

12 of our members headed to the British Rowing Masters Championships this weekend, competing across six events against some of the best masters crews in the country.

A huge congratulations to Paul Freeman, who took home🥇Gold in the Op Lwt H/I 1x with a superb performance.

A special shout-out also goes to our ladies in the W Int 36+ 8+, who battled hard to secure an impressive🥈second place finish.

There were also strong performances from Tom Carter and Andy Appleby in their singles events, both racing their way through to their finals against tough competition 💪

And finally, keep an eye out for Tom's moment of fame on the British Rowing channels thanks to his jazzy AIO and excellent heat race 😎 (link in the comments!)

The club was split across two locations this weekend, with crews racing at Hexham Regatta while five of our juniors headed north to compete at the Scottish Rowing Championships.

🏆 Wansbeck Regatta 2026 Results 🏆

The racing certainly didn't disappoint, with some fantastic performances throughout the day and plenty of close contests across all categories.

This year's Victor Ludorum competition could not have been any tighter, with Lambton Rowing club, HRC Hexham Rowing Club and our own Cambois Rowing Club all finishing on 11 wins each. Congratulations to all three clubs, who will share the Barrie Hanley Cup as joint winners. 🏆

Huge congratulations also to Tyne United Rowing Club, whose WJ18 4x crew took home the Eric Shiel Trophy 🏆
