What an incredible evening at the East Lancashire Cross Country Championships at Marl Pitts!

Every single runner should be immensely proud of themselves. To be selected to represent your borough is a fantastic achievement, and all of our athletes ran with pride and gave their all.

Special congratulations go to:
🥇 Reggie – 1st place
🥈 Henry – 2nd place
🏅 Max – 5th place
🏅 Hugh – 6th place

Their outstanding performances helped power the Ribble Valley boys to the team title!

A huge well done also to Pearl, whose brilliant 3rd-place finish helped the Ribble Valley girls secure an excellent 3rd-place team finish.

Congratulations to everyone who took part – a fantastic display of determination, resilience and teamwork.

A tale of two halves at yesterday's Orienteering Competition!
The day began with some soggy conditions and persistent drizzle, but that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of our young orienteers. A huge thank you to Pendle Forest Orienteers who once again delivered a fantastic event, setting a challenging course through the woods and fields at Wilson's Playing Fields.
The morning competition for secondary schools was won by St Augustine's Roman Catholic High School students showing excellent navigation, teamwork and determination despite the weather.
Thankfully, the sun came out in the afternoon, making for a much more pleasant finish to the day. After all scores were combined, the overall results were:
🥇 Joint 1st – All Saints Blue & Clitheroe St. James' Red
🥈 2nd – Oakhill Blue
🥉 Joint 3rd – Barrow Blue & Sabden Primary School
Congratulations to all the teams who took part and embraced the challenge. Thank you again to Pendle Forest Orienteers Page for their support in running such an enjoyable and well-organised event.

A huge thank you to Accrington Cricket Club Club for hosting our U15 Boys Cricket Competition yesterday.

The standard of cricket on display was excellent throughout the day, with some fantastic batting, bowling and fielding from all teams involved. There were some closely contested matches, but in the end St Augustine's Roman Catholic High School proved too strong for the rest of the field, producing some outstanding batting performances to secure the title.

Congratulations to all of the teams that took part, and especially to our top three:

🥇 St Augustine's
🥈 Clitheroe Royal Grammar School - Main School
🥉 Rhyddings

Well done to everyone involved for playing in such a positive spirit and representing your schools so well.

Finally we got some cricket action off the ground on Monday with the U15 girls competition. With the original venue too wet to use Ribblesdale School let us use their 3G so we could go ahead. Well done to all schools but especially Clitheroe Royal Grammar School - Main School who were overall winners and St Augustine's Roman Catholic High School who came second.

We were delighted to hold a fantastic Tag Rugby Festival, delivered in partnership with Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and supported by the brilliant young leaders from Rhyddings.

Over 100 students took part, many experiencing rugby league for the very first time. The event was packed with fun, engaging coaching activities, giving everyone the chance to develop their skills before putting them into practice in a series of matches against other schools.

It was great to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork and enjoyment on display throughout the day. A huge thank you to everyone involved for making it such a successful event!

Fourteen Pennine Lancashire secondary schools came together yesterday for a fantastic Lancashire School Games festival at Roefield Leisure and Edisford 3G Pitch, all to celebrate and prove that “This Girl Can!”

Participants were able to choose their own activities from an exciting menu, including a treasure hunt orienteering course, beach sports (no sand… but plenty of sunshine! ☀️), glow-in-the-dark dodgeball and benchball, as well as spinning and yoga.

The energy, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved was incredible, and it was fantastic to see so many girls trying new activities for the very first time.

A huge well done to everyone who took part — you were all amazing!

Seventeen of Accrington Academy Year 8 sports leaders successfully completed their Leadership Skills Foundation Level 1 qualification in sports leadership with a brilliant, action-packed day on Wednesday!

The group began the morning by completing their official assessment, delivering sessions they had planned themselves to Year 7 pupils. The feedback from the group says it all: “Amazing”, “So much fun” and “Best PE lesson ever!” (Sorry Mr Weir! 😄)

In the afternoon, the leaders stepped things up even further by running a striking and fielding festival for 12 local primary schools, completing the final hours required for their qualification.

An absolutely fantastic achievement — incredibly well done to every single one of you… you all passed!

Twelve teams of Year 3 & 4 pupils came together at Accrington Academy on Wednesday for a fantastic striking and fielding festival!

Led brilliantly by the Year 8 sports leaders, pupils took part in a range of fun and engaging activities focused on bowling, fielding and batting, helping them to learn the basics of cricket and rounders.

The event finished with some friendly (and slightly competitive!) games between schools, where the skills they’d learned were put into action. And despite a little bit of rain, spirits stayed high throughout!

A huge well done to all the pupils who took part and a big thank you to the young leaders for delivering such a great event
