From Joint Pain to Kiltwalk: How Nuffield Aberdeen Helped Me Change My Life!

"Cant thank Ellie and the team at Nuffield Aberdeen for giving me the chance to turn my life around.

I joined the free joint health/pain program at nuffield late last year. This program is designed to get those suffering from injury or chronic conditions to get moving and change your diet and attitude to exercise. For many years due to my Fibro I was scared to exercise and was bored and depressed. Then menopause hit and was told by my surgery that I wasnt losing weight due to all the factors. I was only given the advice to lose weight and exercise more.

So I looked online and found the program, you get 12wks guided sessions 2 twice a week. Then you self exercise for the next 12 weeks. Did I say its free?

Honestly I was heading for severe obesity and I 100 % credit the program for changing my whole life. Not only did I lose 13kgs and 13.5 cm from my waist. I changed my diet and my whole routine. My mental health was at an all time low and this program saved me. I signed up for another year of paid membership as I'm not ready to leave my supportive space.

No more bed rotting, I'm up every Saturday morning for my gym classes and attend 3-4 times a week. I was lucky to be on the course with some fab people which I now call friends as well.

The gym itself is great it has lots of choice and a pool and sauna. They have a wide range of classes. I'm often at body balance or dance classes. Getting rid of my stresses in healthy ways. The staff are amazing, have not met a bad one yet, they are so encouraging.

Highly recommend the gym and the joint health program to anyone. I feel so comfortable there even when I was at the start of my journey. The staff and the program gave me my confidence back in myself when I thought id never get it back. I even signed up for Kiltwalk this year (18 miles arghh). Sure I still have bad days but now I know how to exercise in those bad moments and have a safe space to dance my cares away.
