📰 NEWS: Maxi racing fires up in the Med at Sandberg PalmaVela

The IMA’s Mediterranean Maxi Offshore and Inshore Challenges resumed and got underway, respectively, with racing at Sandberg PalmaVela, delivering strong results for Pascale Decaux’s Tilakkhana II.

This year's La Larga set sail from Palma on 25 April, with the IMA/IRC Maxi fleet tackling a 295-mile course. Tilakkhana II was first home in an elapsed time of 29h 52m 31s.🏆

Sandberg PalmaVela continued from 30 April-3 May. Tilakkhana II continued her winning streak picking up the first of Thursday’s races but from then on Sven Wackerhagen’s Wally 80 Rose posted an unbroken string of bullets.

Tilakkhana II took the Line Honours in La Larga at Sandberg PalmaVela yesterday.👏 🇪🇸

The Wallycento owned and skippered by Pascale Decaux crossed the finish line at 18:57 on Sunday, April 26, after a total elapsed time of 29 hours, 52 minutes and 31 seconds to complete the nearly 300-nautical-mile course around the Balearic archipelago.

Sophia dominates IMA’s Caribbean Maxi Multihull Series as teams turn their focus to the Mediterranean season 🌴⛵️

The 2026 Caribbean Maxi Multihull Series (CMMS) brought together 4️⃣ key events, including the Caribbean Multihull Challenge - St. Maarten, the Royal Ocean Racing Club Caribbean 600, St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, and April’s BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival in Tortola.

This year saw a clear standout in Marcos Sirota’s Sophia. The 63ft trimaran competed in all four events, winning the multihull class twice and finishing on the podium every time.🏆

📰 2026 ushers in a new era for the International Maxi Association

The IMA starts its 47th season of maxi yacht racing with a fresh influx of maxi owners to its Board and a new President, Maurits van Oranje-Nassau, to steer the Association.🤝

With two Rolex IMA World Championships set for 2026 (one for the Maxi 1 class and the other for the Maxi Grand Prix class) and a continued focus on working with our members and partners to ensure the highest level and fairness in racing, we're set for an exciting season ahead.

Multihull Line Honours – ARGO! 🏆⚡

After 600 relentless miles, it came down to a drag race — and Argo gets it.

Jason Carroll’s MOD70 crosses the line in 1d 12h 01m, just minutes ahead of Final Final – Zoulou in one of the closest multihull finishes of the race. 3 minutes 43 seconds separated the two boats after 600 miles.
