ST SENANS AC LINE OUT FOR GREENWAY HALF AND TULLAMORE HALF MARATHONS

It was a weekend of half marathons with both the West Waterford AC Greenway Half and Tullamore Half Marathon running off to sellout crowds.

Congratulations to Marianne Irish, John Malone, Michael Murphy and Keith Norris who headed in the Dungarvan direction. Meanwhile, Orla Cooper, Marie Sheridan, Esther Lannon, Keith Coady, George Carpendale and Paddy Aylward headed for the midlands.

GEARÓID LONG TAKES GOLD AT THE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CORK CITY SPORTS.

The 72nd Cork City Sports International Athletics Meeting took place on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, bringing together roughly 200 world-class athletes from 42 countries. Held at the Munster Technological University (MTU) Athletics Stadium in Bishopstown, the event serves as a premier fixture on the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze calendar.
Huge congratulations to Gearóid Long who won the 3000m Open Men’s competition in a super time of 8 mins 31 secs with a very tactical run.

Wow!
What a brilliant week we had last week at the Ready Steady Go camp in conjunction with Athletics Ireland.
We had 110 participants from the locality along with kids from Waterford, Kilkenny, Tipperary and even Co Down!
On Thursday we had a special visit from Irish olympian and RDO Marcus Lalor who gave a training session to some of the older athletes and a talk on his athletic career and kindly autographed the kids t-shirts as well 😊
Thanks to our team of athletic leaders who selflessly volunteered their time for the week running the camp.
A very special thanks to Valerie O'Callaghan who organised everything in conjunction with Athletics Ireland.
We hope everyone enjoyed the week and we wish you all a lovely summer break off school 😊

Daire Casey Power, Ellie Mae Alyward,
Kerry Widger and Tadgh O'Callaghan.
All have been nominated by the club on their recent achievements in both Leinster and National competitions that took place in June.
