✨ BEFORE YOU PIERCE… KNOW YOUR BODY ✨
Did you know that in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body is mapped with a network of meridians and acupuncture points — including many points on the ears, face, head and throughout the body?
For thousands of years, Chinese medicine and other traditional healing systems (Indian Japanese Hawaian etc) have worked with specific points on the body in relation to our organs, nervous system, digestion, circulation, energy and overall wellbeing.
👂 And the EAR alone contains an extraordinary map of points used in auricular acupuncture.
So here’s a question worth asking:
When we PIERCE or repeatedly modify a particular area, could we also be stimulating or interfering with a point that traditional medicine considers important?
Modern medicine has not established that piercing an ACUPUNCTURE point causes problems with the corresponding ORGANS. But if you value these ancient systems, it makes sense to know what is located where before making a permanent choice.
Especially with our teenagers and young adults experimenting with multiple piercings, awareness is useful. Not fear. Not judgement. INFORMATION.
Before your next piercing, you might:
✨ Look at an acupuncture/auricular map
✨ Ask a qualified acupuncturist or Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner about the location
✨ Choose an experienced, hygienic professional piercer
✨ Pay attention to how your body responds
Our bodies are extraordinarily complex.
Maybe “Where should I pierce?” deserves as much thought as “What will look good?”
Save this post for your next piercing.
And send it to someone who is considering one. 😄
