Part 3: From the Rails onto Wheels
What happens to a more than 40-year-old funicular car when it undergoes a major overhaul?
After the 2026 winter season, a special journey began for the historic cars of the Chantarella and Corviglia Funiculars. They left their tracks in St. Moritz and headed to the workshops for extensive restoration and overhaul work.
🚋 The cars of the St. Moritz Dorf–Chantarella section were transported to CWA Switzerland / Garaventa AG for extensive restoration and technical work.
🚞 The cars of the upper Chantarella–Corviglia section were sent Calag Carrosserie Langenthal AG , where they are being comprehensively overhauled and prepared for many more years of service.
